Nottingham Forest vs Leeds United Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview

Match Preview

Leeds United fans can be forgiven for being just a little bit doom and gloom when Chris Wood left, but it certainly isn’t panic stations. Leeds are ticking along nicely, just like their opponents here, Nottingham Forest. Leeds are unbeaten so far but Forest have won two out of two at the City Ground.
Game: Nottingham Forest vs Leeds United
Venue: City Ground
Kick-off: Saturday, 26th August, 5.30PM
Leeds United lost Chris Wood on the day of last Saturday’s trip to Sunderland but it did nothing to deter them. A strong performance and a comfortable 2-0 winner over the Black Cats settled concerns for the time being, whilst a 5-1 win on Tuesday night and the impending arrival of two strikers left Chris Wood an utterly forgotten figure just days after his departure. The five goals of Samu Saiz in the past two week mean there’s even less cause for concern.
Forest have won both of their home games so far and are expected to have a reasonably good season. A 2-1 loss to Barnsley, home or away, is arguably the type of game a promotion chasing side must win, but Forest did put in a good performance to beat Garry Monk’s Boro side last time out and the hosts have a reasonably good record here against Leeds.

Reasons for Betting Tips

Leeds United are unbeaten coming into this game, but Forest have looked good at home. The hosts are 29/20 favourites with Bet365 whilst the draw is at 12/5 with Betfred. Leeds can be backed at 19/10 with Bet365 also, but you feel the odds mean nothing coming in to this game.

Whilst it is early in the season and it’s hard to get carried away with an assessment of a team, there are some noticeable differences between these two sides. Whilst Forest can beat anyone at home on their day, they’ve so far dealt with already struggling sides in Brentford and Millwall, and Boro side still adjusting to life in the Championship who have dropped both of their away games.

Leeds were left to rue missed chances against Preston and Fulham, and six wins from six was the width of the post away in these games. But Leeds have surely faced better competition. Sunderland have started the season fairly well, whilst Fulham are expected to be contenders. Leeds also showed ruthless quality in front of goal against lower league opposition.

But sometimes you just have a feeling for a game and form, quality or anything else is never far away from going out the window in the Championship. A bet on Leeds is a risky one here, as this game could literally be a three way coin toss. Forest have scored seven in three games and have registered in every game this season. Leeds haven’t, but they have scored 11 in their last five despite two shutouts. It’s three clean shouts in four for Leeds, but Forest have scored against 15 of the last 16 visitors.

Back our Free Betting Tip: Over 2.5 Goals at 17/20 with Bet365

A 0-0 just isn’t on the cards here. Famous last words. Leeds were very much on the front foot in 0-0 draws against Fulham and Preston and despite the fact The Whites should have scored a couple of goals in each game, they could have also conceded late on. Forest have one clean sheet to their name and it came in a game where truthfully Millwall battered their goal and didn’t get the rub of the green. Both teams should find the net here and both have the attacking talent to keep opening the other up.

Back our Score Prediction: A 2-2 draw at 13/1 with Paddy Power

Leeds United’s star man is official Samu Saiz. The little Spanish magician scored again midweek in Leeds 5-1 EFL Cup rout, which makes it five goals already for the Spaniard who has played most of his games off the bench and ‘Isn’t quite fit yet’. Leeds will need to find lots of inspiration from midfielder until Jay-Roy Grot and his new strike partner settle in up top, but seeing as Leeds’ midfield line-up had a hand in over 65 goals last season (goals and assists combined), they should be alright.

Back our Scorer Prediction: Back Samu Saiz to score at odds of 13/5 with Bet365
