Peterborough vs Bury Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview

Bury have been in great form, but after losses to top two sides Scunthorpe and Bradford, their resolve as a true promotion contender is set to be tested. Peterborough are struggling to get wins and the home crowd are growing ever more frustrated. Below are our predictions, betting tips and preview.

Game:  Peterborough United vs Bury
Venue: ABAX Stadium
Kick-off: Saturday8
th October, 12pm

Peterborough find themselves in a relatively comfortable mid-table position at present thanks to three wins in their opening five games. They've not won since then, emphatically exiting the cups they were involved in also. Both Swansea and Norwich U23 have made light work of the Posh so far and MK Dons beat them 1-0 midweek.

Bury faced their two biggest tests of the season on the back of their six game winning streak and they failed both. Although they gave a good account of themselves, they were beaten by both Scunthorpe and Bradford. Luckily the latter was not a league game.

They're not in bad nick though having accumulated 20 points already this season after a slow start, and they will probably feel they have enough quality to get a result here. They've had no problem at all scoring goals, whilst the hosts just can't keep them out.

Match Predictions and Betting Tips

Despite the differing form, Boro are 11/10 favourites to win this game with bookmakers Betfred . I don't see the value in those odds. The draw can be backed at 11/4with Betway whilst visitors Bury are 13/5 with Betfair to return to winning ways.

Bury's fantastic six game unbeaten run was not their first. They achieved that feat last season in a blistering start that saw them occupy the top three after 15 games, before tailing off to a 14th place finish and a season of away struggles.

Boro finished just three points above Bury and are already displaying the same problems. They scored 82 goals last season, which was the best in the league, but also allowed 73, the worst in the league bar relegated sides. Already this season they've thrown away a lot of leads and although only two sides have scored more, they find themselves in 14th place.

I believe that Bury could tail off and Boro will get things back on track, but at presence there's no great evidence of neither. Bury's results against Scunny and Bradford maybe show they aren't quite a genuine promotion contender, but they're still in good shape. Back Bury 0AH at odds of 28/17 with 888Sport as our free betting tip.

Given that both sides have seen goals heavily feature in their games I don't expect anything to buck the trend here. Nine in a row have seen at least three goals for Bury and the Posh have allowed 19 in 9 at home. Bury to win 3-2 can be backed at odds of 28/1 with Bet365.

Tom Pope is a big threat to any defence in league one. He's been hanging around the league and scoring goals for a long time now, and it's only a matter of time before he starts banging them in for Bury. Back Tom Pope to score at odds of 9/4 with Betfred .
