Real Madrid vs Tottenham Hotspur Predictions, Betting Tips & Preview
Real Madrid and Tottenham also meet on Tuesday evening in what’s shaping up to a thoroughly entertaining, constant channel flicking evening of Champions League ties. This will be the biggest test modern day Spurs have ever faced at this level.
Game: Real Madrid vs Tottenham Hotspur
Venue: Bernabeu Stadium
Kick-off: Tuesday 17th October, 7.45PM
Tottenham have finally registered a win on Wembley soil in the Champions League, and Harry Kane is coming into some serious form. Tottenham’s win over high flying Dortmund and their professional performance away to APOEL was as much as any Spurs fan could hope for and leaves them level of points and goals with the Madrid club.
Real Madrid and Tottenham are in a strong position knowing that even a draw here would set both teams up in a very strong position. Dortmund and APOEL, the latter of whom are unlikely contenders anyway, would find themselves seven points behind and having to beat both Madrid and Tottenham in the final three games.
Real Madrid have lost just two of their last 44 home Champions League ties and one of those was against rivals Barcelona, so a draw here would represent a very good result for Tottenham, but it won’t be easy. The visitors failed to win two of their three away group games this time last year and were beaten 4-0 when visiting the Bernabeu in 2011.
Real Madrid are an expectedly short price at 2/5 with Ladbrokes whilst the drawn can be backed at 4/1 with Betfred. Tottenham are big odds at 13/2 with Bet365.
Despite the overall strength of the Premier League and Tottenham Hotspur, Real Madrid are a clear step above. Manchester City have challenged Madrid well in recent meetings and the blueprints are there. Tottenham especially have some defensive qualities about them that should mean this will be far from a walkover, but you wonder if Madrid’s individual quality and flare will go unmatched here. Better teams have been really made to suffer on this ground.

Manchester City were beaten 1-0 here during their last visit and very nearly managed to shock Madrid in a high scoring affair the time before that. Tottenham’s best chance will be to stay in the game, and they may just have what it takes to frustrate Madrid for large parts of the opening half, with a goal not beyond them. You wouldn’t expect Madrid to run riot here, and for Spurs there is no pressing need to come here and play to win.
Back our Score Prediction: Real Madrid 3-1 at best odds 8/1 with Betfred
There aren't many ways Harry Kane can increase his goal scoring stock, but as per usual with England’s best players, the watching public will find a reason to label a 25 goal Premier League striker as Sunday League. Anyway, moving on. There are plenty of options from a Madrid standpoint here but a goal in the Bernabeu would be a keeper for Harry Kane.
Back our Scorer Prediction: Back Harry Kane to score
