Watford vs Manchester United Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview

Manchester United have lost back to back games under Jose. I find it hard to believe that they’ll make it three in a row when they visit Watfordon Sunday. The Hornets picked up their first win of the season last weekend. Below is our match preview, prediction and betting tips.

Game: Watford vs Manchester United
Venue: Vicarage Road
Kick off: Sunday 18th September, 12PM

After losing 2-1 in the derby last week, Manchester United were beaten 1-0 by Feyenoord in the Europa League. It was a poor result on paper and United were very poor throughout the game. They never truly threatened the goal. Jose demands better than that, so I expect a respond here.

Watford beat West Ham comfortably despite trailing 2-0 approaching half time last week. It showed a bit of character to come back like that, but the fact they beat West Ham doesn’t surprise me. Between their European exit and the way they’ve played at times this season, the Hammers aren’t convincing.

Watford have lost all three of their home games so far this season which has included the visit of League One Gillingham in the League Cup. The Hornets may have scored in every game they’ve played, but they’ve conceded in them also. Let’s note that United have won the last 10 games they’ve played against Watford.

Match Predictions and Betting Tips

Watford to cause an upset and win can be backed at 21/4 with Bet Victor whilst the draw is 3/1 with Ladbrokes. United to win is a rather likely outcome here I feel and that best odds on offer are 4/6 with Betfred.

United did do enough to take a 0-0 draw from Thursday’s Europa League tie I feel. I wasn’t impressed with the hosts either, and their goal was definitely offside. It was a drab game that deserved the 0-0 ending it should have had. United were very sloppy in possession and left it too late to introduce Zlatan. Rooney’s omission may have been a mistake, too.

The bigger picture is you would still expect United to advance from that group but it makes games with Fenerbache a lot tougher. Rooney and Zlatan will be fully fit for this encounter though. Watford should be healthy themselves although Okaka is a doubt. Last weeks win will have given a much needed boost, but I still think they’ve struggled so far – especially defensively – and that should continue here.

United have been guilty of some sloppy defending at times with Bournemouth, Feyenoord, City and Leicester all breaching them this season. I do think the Reds will win this game, but it should be an open one. Back Both Teams to Score as our free betting tip at best odds 19/20 with Bet Victor.

Given that Watford have been so leaky at the back, this United side at their best are capable of three, four, maybe even five goals. They are probably slightly fragile at the moment though, so I don’t expect it to be that straight forward. I do expect them to pull away eventually. Back United to win 3-1 at 14/1 with Bet365.

Every week we go with this man, but why wouldn’t we. Zlatan looks as good as always and any time he is on the pitch he’ll get chances to score. Back Zlatan any time at odds of 6/5 with Sky Bet
