Watford vs West Ham United Predictions, Betting Tips & Preview
Watford had pushed themselves as high as fifth after a whirlwind start to the season, but the Hornets find themselves on the back of three losses here. There was no saving Slaven Bilic, and West Ham will hopes Moyes’ appointment will provide a boost.
Game: Watford vs West Ham United
Venue: Vicarage Road Stadium
Kick-off: Sunday 19th November, 4.00PM
Only a rampant and relentless Manchester City side beat Watford during the first eight games of the Premier League season, but the Hornets have trailed off since then. They’ve faced some tough games, but still would have disappointed at the manner in which Everton and Chelsea beat them.
Richarlison has been a massive driving force behind Watford’s success early in this season, but his turn of poor form in front of goal from the Chelsea game onward has definitely cost Watford some points as other players have failed to step up. Despite conceding four at Chelsea, it’s not an exaggeration to say that game could have finished 4-4 on his chances alone.
But West Ham present a good opportunity to get back on track. It’ll be interesting to see the effect David Moyes has on the Hammers. WIth little time to work during the International break, it’ll likely be no more than motivation and the new manager effect, but how West Ham’s players respond could tell us a lot.
Watford are 21/20 favorites with Bet365 despite having dipped out of form. The draw is available to back at 12/5 with Betfair, whilst West Ham are best odds 13/5 with Betfred.
The Hammers have actually scored six goals in their last three games against Premier League opposition which is their best run of the season. Unfortunately for them, they’ve allowed 15 in six at the other end. Both sides seem to be struggling defensively despite scoring goals right now.
Goals would seem likely, but both sides have every motivation to tighten things up. Watford have failed to score in three of four at home, and West Ham need to prove to their new manager that they actually can defend. This could be a cagey game.
Back our Free Betting Tip: Under 2.5 Goals at 7/6 with Bet365
Stopping the rot wouldn’t be a bad thing for either side. West Ham need something to build on, and Watford need to get back to the sort of work rate that saw them give some good teams a real game earlier in the season. There may also be an element of both sides being scared to make the first move out of fear of mistakes here.
Back our Score Prediction: A 1-1 Draw at 11/2 with Coral
Richarlison has been outstanding for Watford, but he became wasteful. There’s more to come from the young man. Javier Hernandez has just as many goals, but his performances feel far off from where they should be. But Andy Carroll’s return should free up the little man
Back our Scorer Prediction: Javier Hernandez at 15/8 with Betfred
