West Brom vs Liverpool Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview
After a wildly inconsistent few month Liverpool are unbeaten in six and in patches are playing like the team that went unbeaten for most of the early season. West Brom aren’t going to catch Everton, but securing an eighth place finish would be an achievement. Below are our match predictions, betting tips and preview.
Game: West Brom vs Liverpool
Kick-off: Sunday 16th April, 1.30pm
Liverpool have an exemplary record against sides in and around the upper echelons of the Premier League but seem to trip themselves up when facing the lesser sides. Here they’ll visit a West Brom side that are in the top half but find themselves struggling for form at present.
Eight wins in their last 12 home games have seen them maintain their steady footing for most of the season and a couple of wins in the final weeks should secure them an eighth placed finish. Away from home Liverpool have gone unbeaten against the top seven but have slipped up at 9th placed Southampton, 11th placed Leicester and 12th placed Burnley, so which half of the pack do West Brom fit in?
Well, the Baggies don’t qualify as a ‘top club’ despite league positioning and it’s exactly the sort of game Klopp’s men keep seeming to let their guard down for. That said, Liverpool did win 2-1 at Stoke last time out and recovered well against Bournemouth. It’s crunch time now and one little slip will let Manchester City into fourth.
West Brom are 3/1 with Bet365 to maintain their strong home form here whilst the draw can be backed at 14/5. Liverpool carries a price tag to be weary of, but they are favorites at 23/25 with Bet365.
Liverpool are within touching distance of making a return to Champions League football. Klopp’s men have benefited massively from full focus on domestic football this season, but they’ll know it’s not job done with a fixture list full of sides placed eighth or lower in the Premier League.
On paper Liverpool have a lovely fixture list but when you consider where their slip ups have come this season? Perhaps not. West Brom are the first of a run of stubborn teams that will test Klopp’s men's focus and patience, and Reds fans will know they’ve historically struggled here in recent times. Liverpool have won four of 11 overall against the Baggies and just one of their last seven trips to the Hawthorns.
Back our Free Betting Tip: West Brom +0.5AH at 21/20 with Bet365.
Although Liverpool have only won one of their last seven trips here, West Brom have only picked up one win themselves. Stubborn resistance from the Baggies has been a feature of meetings on this ground, of which five of seven have finished all square. Liverpool’s propensity to concede should mean West Brom are in touching distance throughout.
Back our Score Prediction: 2-2 draw at odds of 18/1 with Bet365.
West Brom have not been free scoring and have failed to register in their last five other than the 3-1 win over Arsenal. Set pieces will provide good opportunities here, and six of the Baggies last 12 home goals have been scored by defenders.
Back our Scorer Prediction: Gareth Mcauley to score at odds of 15/2 with Bet365.
