West Ham vs Huddersfield Town Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview
West Ham will host Huddersfield on Monday evening under mounting pressure, as the Hammers remain winless so far. Huddersfield, on the other hand, hasn't even conceded their first Premier League goal yet.
Game: West Ham vs Huddersfield Town
Venue: Olympic Stadium
Kick-off: Monday 11th September, 7.45PM
West Ham’s only win so far came against League Two Cheltenham Town in the Cup, with the Hammers looking extremely vulnerable whilst losing all three of
their Premier League games. Bilic is under growing pressure after a rough first season at the Olympic stadium, and despite their away heavy schedule
early on, conceding 10 goals has done little to appease Hammers fans. It would be hard to imagine many scenarios in which Huddersfield could underachieve
this season given the task ahead of them, but already David Wagner's men has surpassed expectations, winning two of their first three games without
conceding a single goal. Huddersfield look well capable of springing a ‘surprise’ here.
Despite their awful start to the season, West Ham are 19/20 favorites with bookmaker Bet365. The draw can be backed at 5/2 with Sky Bet and the visitors, Huddersfield, are available to back at 7/2 with Betfair.
West Ham United’s three losses have seen them concede far too many goals with far too little a response. The Hammers have lost 4-0 to United, 3-2 to Southampton and 3-0 to Newcastle. The Newcastle game, in particular, showed that West Ham are very far off where they would have liked to be at the start of a new season.
Huddersfield and Wagner would have been forgiven for struggling in their first season together at this level, but Town have extended that honeymoon period greatly with two wins and a draw in their first three games, failing to concede a goal yet and winning 3-0 at the home of an established top-flight side in Crystal Palace.
West Ham will inevitably improve whilst Town will have their rough patches this season, but until the wheels start to fall off it’s hard to justify betting on West Ham to beat an unbeaten team. Huddersfield look a nice price here.

The Hammers have only scored in one of their three games so far and those goals came through a Javier Hernandez who has looked rather isolated in the forward position so far. Couple that with the fact that Town have yet to concede, and it’s hard to see the Hammers contributing too much to this scoreline. Town are likely to sit off and keep themselves in the game, so a narrow scoreline wouldn’t be a surprise.
Back our Score Prediction: Huddersfield Town to win 1-0 at 11/1 with Paddy Power
Javier Hernandez is responsible for West Ham’s only two Premier League goals so far this season but there’s no guarantee they’ll breach this stubborn Town defence. Steve Mounie looks a class above as did Aaron Moy, but with Town likely to be pressed back for large periods it’s more likely Town’s big money marksman would be the one to pop up with a goal.
Back our Scorer Prediction: Steve Mounie at best odds 9/4 with Betfred
