I was born in Cheltenham; the Saturday before the Festival. I was meant to arrive on April 1 st, which tells its own tale. My late Father was obsessed with racing. Breakfast was taken with the Sporting Life and Cheltenham Racecourse was my playground. There are two races in my infancy that had me totally hooked on the game. The first being the victory of Forgive N’ Forget in the 1983 Coral Golden Hurdle which firmly cemented my love of handicaps. The second being the 1986 Gold Cup which was run on my tenth birthday. I have kept my own formbooks since the age of 11 and I still continue to do so. There was only ever one profession for me.
