Stratford - 16:55 - Lillington - 9/4 with William Hill, BetVictor, Sky Bet - 1pt Win - Won +2.75(bog)
Won impressively at a Newton Abbot in June finally getting rid of his maiden tag after 16 attempts. 9lbs higher here but the way he won sparked
confidence that there’s more to come from this 6 year old.
If in front today will be hard to pass at Stratford.
Galway - 15:45 - Rashaan - 11/10 with most bookies - 1pt Win - Lost
Got off the mark after hitting the crossbar twice over fences when beating Ornua here over 2m 2f. Ornua franked that form by winning a grade 3 novice chase at Roscommon at the start of the month.
Southwell - 14:20 - Mcgroaty - 11/8 with Sky Bet, Ladbrokes, PP, betfair, William Hill and BetVictor - 1pt Win - Won +1.37
Shone on chase debut last week. Under a penalty here but given how impressive that performance was he should follow up quickly here to make it 2 from 2 over fences.
Southwell - 15:50 - Fidux - 9/4 with Sky Bet, Ladbrokes, William Hill and BetVictor - 1pt - Won +2.25
Win Has been knocking on the door in better races and typically goes well fresh.
Should have the class required in a race that lacks depth.
Worcester - 16:00 - Bradford Bridge - 11/4 with Sky Bet, PP and BetVictor - 1pt Win - Won +1.88
0 from 14, but on a he same mark of 104 still here after a decent performance last time when just missing out after being outpaced via Marble Moon on the run in. If producing a similar effort here today he should take this and lose his maiden tag.
Bangor - 16:25 - Jaunty Thor - 15/8 with bet365, Sky Bet and BetVictor - 1pt Win - Lost
Has been flying since joining the Gordon Elliot stable with 2 wins and 2 close 2nds. Should be able to land a quick hat trick here reverting
back to hurdles after winning over fences last time out.
Although this does look his toughest test to date with both Royal Ruby and Cousin Oscar capable if in the mood.
Today I have 2 tips on a decent looking day of jumps racing at Newton Abbot.
Newton Abbot - 14:15 - Dolos - 11/4 with William Hill, 5/2 with most other bookies - 1pt Win - Lost
A competitive looking class 2 intermediate chase despite only 6 runners.
Dolos has some very useful form last season over fences and goes well fresh.
Have to draw a line through the run where he got well beaten by Benatar at Ascot in December, as something was amiss that day. Benatar clearly is a danger here again but might not be firing on all cylinders here and instead have his sights on a bigger prize later in the season like the BetVictor Gold Cup.
Newton Abbot - 15:25 - Maria’s Benefit - 15/8 with betfair and PP - 1pt Win - Won +1.88
Another cracking little race with it possible to make angles for all 4 on show. However Maria’s Benefit won the most over hurdles and won
her only point to point. In receipt of her 7lbs mares allowance she can beat the boys here.
Lough Derg Spirit is in with a shout but might want further and Mont Des Avaloirs should make a decent chaser in time.
Flying Tiger was 2nd over the track and trip to Highway One O One last month. Will come on for the run and the only one that has had a run over fences, but this looks a lot tougher than that race.
A small profit yesterday with Maria’s Benefit very impressive. Dolos just fell short in 2nd to prevent the double, but still one to follow this season I feel.
A very competitive looking day of racing today. I have 1 tip for the bigrace at Chepstow.
Chepstow - 16:45 - Sneaky Feeling - 9/1 with betfair and PP - 1pt Win - Lost
Put in a couple of poor performances in handicaps last season after a very encouraging season as a novice the year before the highlight
that year was when he was 25/1 and beat odds on shot Bags Groove at Newbury.
Has been off for 334 days but on a workable mark if fighting fit and in the mood here can be a player with the yard in decent form.
It catches the eye that Dickie Johnson has chosen him over the previously useful Louis’ Vac Pouch but he probably needs further and tends to struggle in large fields.
Good luck if you follow.
Sneaky Feeling looked to travel ok through the race hugging the inside but clearly ran out of steam before 3 out, Dickie put the brakes on and he was well beaten, a poor performance, apologies.
Today I have 1 tip for you all.
Chepstow - 14:50 - Minella Awards - 15/8 with Sky Bet and BetVictor - 1pt Win - Lost
Ran a blinder over at Galway last time out over hurdles when 2nd to subsequent Ceasarewitch winner Low Sun. Clearly the most capable of these over hurdles and if taking to fences on debut should win this.
Drinks Interval is interesting at 9/1 now 2 from 3 over fences but she was 20lbs inferior over hurdles to Minella Awards and is now 10lbs higher than her opening mark over fences so looks exposed here.
Chameron is still a bit of an unknown, a poor 2nd on his only start in the UK in a novice chase last season, but can say he beat Yanworth who fell that day when 2/9! A pleasant reminder that there’s no such thing as a certainty in this game!
Good luck if you follow.
