Bayern Munich Vs Real Madrid friendly match betting tips, predictions and preview

George Dempsy - 01-Aug-2016

The International Champions Cup is still in full flow and will see the reigning Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich take on La Liga’s runners up Real Madrid this midweek. Below is our match preview, prediction and betting tips.

Game: Bayern Munich vs. Real Madrid

Venue: Met Life Stadium, New Jersey, USA

Kick-off: 12:35am, Thursday 4th August

Bayern Munich are the ‘hosts’ for this glamour tie that is set to take place in the earliest hours of Thursday morning. For those of you able to keep your eyes open until such a time, you should be in for quite a treat. Both sides have been a massive goal threat during pre-season, although Madrid will be looking at tightening up their leaky defence. The La Liga runners up were leading Chelsea 3-0 at the break only to allow Hazard to score twice in the final 10 minutes. Bayern were far more ruthless, dispatching Inter 4-1 after allowing a late consolation goal. It marked Bayern’s fourth win in five pre-season games, and a campaign that has seen them register 15 goals.

Madrid themselves haven’t been shy in-front of goal as they’ve found the net six times in two outings so far, but they’ve also allowed three at the wrong end. This one should be end to end from start to finish.

Match Predictions and Betting Tips

Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are two squads overflowing with talent, and both have a realistic chance of lifting titles domestically and in Europe this season. The latter of the two may face stiffer opposition, so this will be a good early indication of Madrid’s progression. The last competitive meeting saw Madrid thrash Bayern 4-0, but you should predict no such repeat on Thursday.

Bayern are favourites to win the game at best odds of 11/10 with Bet365 and although you would agree with the favourites tag, let’s remember this is a friendly. The line-ups remain experimental at this point, although youngster Julian Green did start and bagged an impressive first half hat-trick against Inter.

The draw is available at a price of 5/2 whilst Real to win is offered at a marginally better 23/10. There’s enough in each price for you to claim value given the nature of any meeting between two big sides, but I think backing the broader possibility of Madrid not losing is wise. Real +0.25AH can be backed at 9/10 with Bet365 as our free betting tip.

I have to offer up a score line that lines up with my first tip, and it’s undeniable that these teams are both capable of scoring and conceding goals. Ronaldo may be on vacation, but there will be a lot of attacking talent on show still. I fancy 2-2 as a correct score prediction.

More to come from Morata

After such a stirring performance last time out, you can expect Julian Green to feature heavily again in his native country. Bayern are likely to field a side of two halves again, which makes pinning your hopes on a goal scorer that much trickier.

Madrid have Marcelo to thank for their weekend win, but you shouldn’t expect another brace. Only young Diaz played the whole game on Saturday, but Alvaro Morata completed 65 minutes and looked sharp. I’d fancy the Spanish International to get on the score sheet here, ahead of what could be a big season for him.
