Gary Priestley - 24-May-2017

Last week was another of those frustrating weeks where they all played well but not well enough to be in contention. Ricky Barnes led after day 1 with a tremendous opening round of 6 under par but he couldn't maintain that pace and had a truly dreadful 2nd day where he found the water on 3 occasions. Johan Carlsson despite being 3 over par after 5 holes on day 1 fought back superbly with consecutive decent rounds to get to a T5th place with 18 holes left to play but a poor Sunday saw him shoot an over par round and drop right out of contention which was a shame. As we all know finding Golf winners is tough with a field of 150 players every week but its that challenge that brings us back every week. I would like to say well done to Billy Horschel on his win on the PGA Tour after a terrible year for him in his personal life which has had a massive affect on his golf game. It was great to see him playing such solid golf again and hopefully now his family troubles are hopefully behind him he can get back to playing consistent golf.

We all know how good Jordan has been since he shot onto the scene, he is however going through a lean spell with 3 missed cuts on the trot including last week where he missed out by 1 shot after taking a 9 on the par 5 with 2 out of bounds right tee shots, 5 off the tee for a professional is a big mistake but he has clearly shown a liking for Colonial and with 3 top 10's from 4 starts here he must go well. He's made 96 cuts from 116 starts since turning Pro in 2012 he has already amassed nearly $29m from 9 PGA tour victories plus 3 other world wide. He's already won in 2017 at the Pebble Beach Pro-am.

Jason hasn't been as good since he lost weight and got divorced but has shown signs recently that he's getting back on track. He's amassed in excess of $22m from his 4 PGA wins and 42 Top 10 finishes making 197 cuts from his 276 starts. His best finish in 2017 is his 5th place at Zurich Classic and 11th at the Valspar. He was 13th last week at the AT&T Byron Nelson after opening 3 rounds of 69-68-65 he fell away on Sunday with a 72 but signs are good.

2013 T35th 67-66-70-74 277
2012 T5th 71-69-70-65 275

Since turning Pro in 2007 Chris has won 4 PGA events winning just short of $15m with131 cuts made from his 182 starts. He has a career hi Fedex position of 2nd and a career low round of 62 with 25 Top 10 finishes. So far in 2017 he is yet to win but has 3 top 10's but worryingly he has missed 7 cuts in his last 13 events. His last start he was 12th in the Players but as a past winner here and a previous Top 5 finish as well he clearly loves it at Colonial.
