Chelsea vs Bristol Rovers Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview

Antonio Conte will be looking for his third win in three games when Chelsea host Bristol Rovers on Tuesday, and baring a rather large shock you would expect him to get it. Below is our match predictions, betting tips and preview.

Game: Chelsea vs Bristol Rovers
Venue: Stamford Bridge
Kick off: 7.45pm, Tuesday 23rd August

This must have been the dream draw for Bristol Rovers owner Wael Al Qadi who is a self-confessed Chelsea fan with a lot of connections at the club. That doesn’t mean the Jordanian wouldn’t love to see his club topple the Premier League title contenders, but it’s probably unlikely.

Chelsea have the luxury of ringing the changes and still being expected to win comfortably on Tuesday, but Rovers’ one hope will be that Chelsea do have bigger fish to fry. It’ll take an almighty effort for any side to come here and win but Bradford showed it is certainly possible.

Bristol Rovers have been playing good football to start their campaign and are good value for more than the four points they have earned. Chelsea have left it very late on both occasions, once against Watford and also against a less than full strength Hammers side. Chelsea are not in their stride just yet.

Match Predictions and Betting Tips

Chelsea are not worth touching at a price of 2/11 with Bet365. The draw is available at 5/1 with Coral and the away side, Bristol Rovers, are at best odds of 19/1 with Betfair.

You can’t make a reasonable case for backing those short odds, whilst predicting any draw is hard. Bristol Rovers to win is the most unlikely outcome of the three but it offers the biggest prize and these things can be worth a tenner on occasion.

It’s unlikely that you’ll get much joy out of looking for winners at odds of 10 and above (naturally) but if you’re going to find them anywhere, it’s probably in this competition.

There’s something in this Rovers team – or more specifically manager Darrell Clarke. I know for a fact they won’t be phased by this occasion and they won’t wilt. If they’re hammered, it’ll be down to Chelsea’s class on the day. Any Premier League team has the ability to heavily outscore a League One side on any given day, but such has been the character of Bristol Rovers over the past few seasons, I think they can get on the score sheet.

It would certainly be against the odds if only slightly, but they have registered a goal in each of their games so far this season. They’ve also only kept one clean sheet which was in the last round against Cardiff, but for obvious reasons we don’t expect a repeat. And I don’t think we need any stats as justification for why Chelsea will score here.
Both Teams to Score is our free betting tip here at a price of 5/4 with Ladbrokes.

I’m already being brave by suggesting Rovers will score, but I truly believe they will. I couldn’t possibly go one further and suggest too positive a result, but they have to resolve to stick with it here. Chelsea to win 3-1 is best odds of 9/1 with Bet365, whilst I’d like use to be brave and back Matty Taylor as an any time goal scorer if odds become available.
