Monday - Day 1

Tips for Monday 1st January, 2018

1.45 Southwell – Kickboxer 4-1 widely available - Lost
0.5pts E/W

Plenty of early pace in here and that should play to the strengths of Kickboxer. He came from a very long way back over this C and D last time out to be beaten just a nose. The winner got an easy time of it that day up front but tomorrow looks as if it will play more to Kickboxers strengths. Appleby loves having a winner at Southwell and he should go close to adding another here.

2.00 Cheltenham – Sametegal 4-1 widely available - Placed - +0
0.5pts E/W

Sametegal ran a career best last time out in the Becher. He showed that day his liking for heavy conditions and now dropped back in trip slightly he will prove a tough horse to beat. He seems to be an improved model this season and his form in behind Guitar Pete has been franked since by the winner. He looks well placed and Sam gets the ride on board.

2.55 Southwell – Majestic Moon 6-1 widely available - Placed +0.25
0.5pts E/W

Majestic Moon is an interesting runner in here. He has tumbled down the weights since the start of last season but has shown promise on his last two starts at this track. Firstly a solid enough 4th over a mile before an eye-catching 3rd over 7f’s. 7f’s here looks to be his trip so the fact he remains over that distance is a bonus, he has a nice weight pull with the likes of Monsieur Jimmy and Muqarred which should see him reverse the form and that alone puts him in with leading claims. The one possible improver is Kelly’s Dino but given he has been off since 2015 I am happy to take him on with this more reliable type.

Tuesday - Day 2

Tips for Tuesday 26th December, 2017

1.10 Wolverhampton – Ingleby Angel 7-1 Betfair - Lost
0.5pts E/W
Ingleby Angel has been in cracking form recently and has been unlucky not to pick up one of these handicaps. He arguably ran up to a level way above his handicap mark last time out in a claimer. The winner Choral Clan was only beaten a neck back in a handicap of 69 next time out and Ingleby Angel only finished 1.5l’s behind him of level weights. That makes his mark of 58 look very lenient and from a very good draw in stall 2 he should be well placed as long as he starts well.

1.45 Wolverhampton – Battle Of Marathon 4-1 widely available/Kyllachy Gala 7-1 widely available
1pt win Battle Of Marathon - Lost
0.5pts E/W Kyllachy Gala - Placed +0.38
I was really taken with Battle Of Marathon last time out. He won a shade cosily in my opinion and clearly relishes this C and D. The handicapper could easily have shoved him up 6lb but he has sided with only 3lb which looks lenient to me. He travelled very strongly and showed a smart turn of foot, he is equal at the weights with Enemen after that horse franked the form so has the beating of him and that also gives him the beating of Bronze Angel. Mythical Madness is a potential problem but he has stall 8 and is better over a bare mile. Battle Of Marathon is still very well treated on old form and he is quite clearly getting himself somewhere close to that level again now. I think he will take all the beating from stall 3.
Kyllachy Gala also looks worth keeping on side in here. 2nd last time out in behind Enemen, he has a 1lb swing in the weights and with a clearer run that may be enough to see him reverse the form. He has stall 5 which is fine and at an each way price he is under-estimated. He has been in great form recently and does deserve to win one of these. He goes well over this C and D and Kieran Shoemark keeps the ride.

2.50 Wolverhampton – Intisaab 9-2 widely available
0.5pts E/W - Won +2.81
Intisaab should take all the beating in here. He needs a good pace to aim at but he should get that with three different pace setters in here. It is surely going to be run at an extreme tempo and from stall 4 Intisaab should get the perfect sit in behind. He is in a great form at present and has a nice swing in the weights with Double Up which should see him reverse the form. Salateen is better over further, Mythmaker always seems to find a few too good in this grade, Kimberella has a penalty and a tough draw, Gulliver was awful last time out and both Polybius and Line Of Reason have a bit to prove at present returning for breaks back on the AW. It all points towards Intisaab being very tough to beat.

4.00 Wolverhampton – Outer Space 15-2 Betfair
0.5pts E/W - Placed +0.3
I am convinced Outer Space has been plotted for a handicap win just like this for some time. Held back in claimers the last twice his handicap mark has dropped 7lb since he last competed in a handicap. He finished 5th that day in a class 4 of 82, now running of 75 in a class 5 he must have major claims. In my opinion he is a better horse than this grade and from stall 2 as long as he can break on terms then he should take all the beating. There is some juice in his price and he should get a good pace to aim at with various front runners in here. As always luck in running will be needed but that's the risk you take with horse racing.

Wednesday - Day 3

Tips for Wednesday 27th December, 2017
1.45 Wolverhampton - Krystalite 10-1 widely available
0.5pts E/W - Losts
Krystalite is very interesting in here. He is a very well handicapped horse at present, his last win over this C and D came of 67 and tomorrow he races of 57. He didn't seem to enjoy Southwell last time out but I can always excuse a run at Southwell. Before that he had run two nice races over this C and D, a 6th of 62 and then a 4th of 60 both suggest of 57 he should go very close. He has stall 6 tomorrow which is a good draw for this prominent runner to cross over. At an each way price he looks well worth a small investment, as with any front runner much will depend on how he starts but that's racing and the risk we have to take.

2.50 Chepstow - Milansbar 20-1 widely available 4places
0.5pts E/W - NON Runner
I am going to chance Milansbar in here carrying bottom weight. He has run several good races in similar contests and this is by far the lowest rating he has brought into one of these races. He's a likeable horse who comes into this after two very solid prep runs. They stick the cheek-pieces on for the first time which is obviously quite eye-catching and we know he should relish the conditions. It all points towards him out-running his lenient odds.

4.25 Wolverhampton - Waarif 6-1 widely available
0.5pts E/W - Lost
We backed Waarif last time out at Chelmsford. They had harrowed the track deeper than usual that day so it is no surprise that the 1,2,3 were all on the pace or just in behind. This horse blew the start which he does have a tendency to do but I was very taken with how strongly he travelled into the race. On deep ground he couldn't quicken as well as what looked likely but still he ran a race full of promise. Dropped 2lb he is clearly on a workable mark and I am just hoping we get a little bit of luck with either no trouble in running or maybe that he gets the start right. We will see but at an each way price he is a solid bet.

4.55 Wolverhampton - Jessie Allan 11-2 widely available
0.5pts E/W - Placed +.19
I am quite keen on Jessie Allan in here. He is a well handicapped horse who comes into this in cracking form after two 2nds at Newcastle and a 4th over C and D latest. He was very unlucky last time out, a wide draw and slow starts left him wide and towards the rear of the field. With nowhere to go he was forced widest of all in a big field turning for home. To finish 4th was quite frankly a huge run and left on the same mark he surely has huge claims of the same mark. Stall 7 is fine and as long as he can break on terms and settle mid-pack then I struggle to see how he won't go close.
Good Luck

Thursday - Day 4

3.30 Lingfield – Very Honest 6-1 widely available
0.5pts E/W - Lost
Very Honest ran well for 3rd in a better race than this last time out. He is a game front runner and always seems to show his best form around these tight turns. Down in grade tomorrow carrying just 9-4 he should find making all a shade easier at this level. Luke Morris keeps the ride which is eye-catching given he could have rode a few in here and from stall 5 he has a nice draw to break from.

Friday - Day 5

Saturday - Day 6

12.00 Lingfield – Reckless Endeavour 11-2 widely available/Stellarta 20-1 widely available
Both 0.5pts E/W - Placed +.19 / Lost

A cracking sprint where two make plenty of appeal. Firstly Reckless Endeavour has shaped promisingly on his first two starts for Jamie Osborne. Firstly a good 3rd at Kempton over 6f’s in a race which is working out very well and then a good 5th over a furlong further at Newcastle. Both performances were good pieces of form and from a good draw in stall 2 he has a fantastic chance down 1lb and dropped in grade. Also from that Kempton race Stellarta makes big appeal. He has a great AW record and dropped 2lb to a mark of 88 he is now a very well handicapped horse in this sphere. He ran well at Kempton considering he had a wide draw and was left with a lot to do. He is better than that performance suggests and from a better draw tomorrow in stall 4 dropped 2lb and in grade he holds huge claims.

12.35 Lingfield – Tigerfish 14-1 widely available - Lost
0.5pts E/W

catches my eye from a low draw here. She won for us last year over this C and D of 45, she then followed up that win in good style next time out winning again over this C and D of 47. She was raised to a mark of 52 after that and ran well enough at Chelmsford before going to race throughout the summer on turf. She managed two wins during the summer, firstly of 50 and then of 52. Since then she has dropped from a mark of 58 down to 50 which she runs oftomorrow. She returned to the AW last time out when running an eye-catching race over this C and D after being dropped in from a wide draw. Forced wide around the bend she had no chance but the late progress she made was pleasing and now down another 2lb from a better draw her price looks good value.

2.45 Haydock – Granville Island 9-1 widely available - Lost
0.5pts E/W

Granville Island
is very interesting in here. He has dropped to a very workable mark and I was very taken by the way he travelled last time out over further. He quite simply doesn’t stay that far but now dropped back to his favoured trip and down 4lb to a mark that is 2lb below his last winning mark he looks to have a fantastic chance. Factor in that he has his favoured conditions, goes well at Haydock and has cheek-pieces on for the first time.
3.30 Lingfield – Attain 5-2 widely available/Beepeecee 13-2 widely available
1pt win Attain - Lost
0.5pts E/W Beepeecee - Lost

Two look worth support in here. Attain deserves to get his head in front and it isn’t surprising that connections turn to the talented Nicola Currie to take of some valuable extra weight. That could be key as he hasn’t been beaten far in his last few starts and he does look in need of just a little extra help. He has stall 5tomorrow and as long as he gets a good start and a clear run then he will be tough to beat. This is his best trip and he is quite clearly in a rich vein of form. Beepeecee also looks worth keeping on side, He ran a cracker over this C and D two starts back and is running of only 1lb higher now. He has a nice drawtomorrow and given how well this horse travels if he starts well then it could easily play into this horses hands. He is very closely matched with Attain and I couldn’t put one up without the other.

Good Luck
