Hull City vs Leicester City Preview, Prediction and Betting Tips

The defending Champions begin the defence of their Premier League title on Saturday lunch time, as they visit newly promoted Hull. Despite losing 2-1, Leicester’s performance in the shield show they’ll far from be a pushover again. Below is our match preview, prediction and betting tips.

Game: Hull City vs Leicester City

Venue: KC Stadium, Hull

Kick off: 1245PM, Saturday 13th August

Leicester City were never considered a likely title winner until they were seven points clear with a few games to go. Yet when Arsenal beat them twice, the title was all but lost. Puts pay to the saying that a title isn’t one or lost in one game. Or maybe people just refused to accept they were shown exactly how to do it by a newly promoted team who were nearly relegated during their first season back in the top flight.

It’s fitting that these two meet on the opening day because Hull can take a lot of lessons from what Leicester achieved. I’m far from suggesting Hull can win the title, but such a statement would be met with the same response I’d have got if quoting Leicester this time last year.

The Tigers are back in the Premier League and have a season of fantastic home form to build on. They’re favourites to make the drop at a comfortable odds on price, but I do feel the momentum they have early season can produce results, and they’re certainly more stable than the likes of Sunderland and West Brom.

Match Predictions and Betting Tips

Hull are best odds of 17/5 with Bet Victor, whilst the draw can be backed at 5/2 with Bet365. The best priced outlet for a Leicester win is Stan James at 21/20, going beyond those who have priced the Champions as odds on at 19/20.

This time last year it all began so well for Leicester. A team also favoured to finish rock bottom of the league after narrowly escaping relegation before, they made a statement from the start by beating Sunderland 4-2 at home before travelling to West Ham a week later and winning 2-1.

Leicester very much started their title winning season in the same way that they finished their near relegation season. Arsenal were the only side to beat Leicester during the first 17 games of the season. The Foxes also avoided defeat until their 10th away game of the season when travelling to Anfield.

The two problems that City face this season for me are their depth taking in to account European and Cup gams, but more importantly, will they have a target on their backs early season? I certainly think a lot of the big clubs will be out to beat Leicester, but for the most part I honestly think people will just continue to overlook them because they aren’t one of the ‘big four’. City can use that to their advantage this season.

For Hull the aim is simple. Stay up. They will probably have a points total in mind, but they can only take it a game at a time. There’s no easy games in the Premier League, but I have to think Hull will look forward to facing Burnley and Swansea, knowing that their next four games are United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal. Cruel.

IN a way I think that’s good for the Tigers. They won’t be too hopeful of points in those games, so anything is a bonus. It then leaves them with a very long run of games where they don’t face teams of the highest quality and they can perhaps get some momentum going.

I think despite the excitement that will be surrounding the place come Saturday, Leicester will perform admirably and stick to their game plan. It’s their third season in the league and although Hull will shock a few at home this season, it’ll take some time to adjust. That’s why our free betting tip is Leicester City to win at 21/20 with Stan James.

I think we all know it’s a case of no Vardy, no Party for Leicester this season. When he plays and scores, they can beat anyone. I do think they could face some uncomfortable moments here, and Hull games were quite tight last season. I predict Leicester will steal a way with a 1-0 win here at best odds of 6/1 with Bet Victor.Who will get the goal? Well, Jamie Vardy of course. 9/5 also with Bet Victor.
