1- Don Cossack (2016)

Don Cossack became very famous in the 2014-15 National Hunt seasons when he won 6 out of the 7 races he competed in. Apart from the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham, he won all the races of Punchestown Chase, Powers Irish Whiskey Chase, and the Daily Star Chase. Owned by the Gigginstown House Stud, he has been trained by the famous Gordon Elliott.

In the 2016 Cheltenham Gold Cup, he was competing with some very big names. Cue Card had won King George VI Chase while Smad Place had won the Hennessy Gold Cup.However, Don Cossack got the best of them all.

No racehorse gained any big edge until Colin Tizzard's Cue Card fell at the third last fence. That was the time when Don Cossack and Djakadam surged ahead of others and were fiercely competing with each other. Don Cossack maintained his pace and managed to claim the race by four and a half lengths in the end.

This was the first Gold Cup victory for trainer Gordon Elliott. Unfortunately, he sustained a big injury in 2017 which caused him to retire earlier from his racing career.

2- Sizing John (2017)

It is an incredible feat to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup with your first runner. That's what Jessica Harrington achieved when she won the Gold Cup with her horse Sizing John. The amazing racehorse had already won the Kinloch Brae Chase and the Irish Gold Cup that season for her.

Native River, Djakadam and Minella Rocco were considered as top favorites before the beginning of the race. All the favorite horses competed well but it was Sizing John who prevailed in the end. He won the race by two and three-quarter lengths to get his trainer the first Gold Cup. Minella Rocco came in second while Native River and Djakadam grabbed the third and fourth places respectively.

Cue Card proved to be a big disappointment for Colin Tizzard again as he fell at the third last fence. The race also saw some big names missing due to injuries which helped the cause of Sizing John. Coneygree, the 2015 Gold Cup winner, was out because of injury while the King George winner Thistlecrack was also missing due to the same problem.

3- Native River (2018)

Might Bite was the hot favorite to win the 2018 Cheltenham Gold Cup. His performance in that year's King George VI Chase convinced everybody that he could produce a similar feat at the Gold Cup. However, Native River managed to win the coveted trophy in the end. Other favorites for the race were Road to Respect and Djakadam while the previous year's winner Sizing John was out due to injury.

Might Bite and Native River looked far better than the rest of competing horses. They led the race from the start with the competition for the first position only taking place between them. After an incredible contest, Native River won the trophy against Might Bite. Native River had finished third in the 2017 Gold Cup, but this time he was not to let anybody else win the race.
