Monday - Day 1
3.55 Redcar, Jebediah Shine9/1 1pt e/w Skybet, Totesport, Betfred, Betvictor, Coral, Betbright - Placed +.8
Although yet to win in class 3 handicap company, Jebediah Shine is only 2LB above his last win at Chelmsford on the all weather in January. She is 2 wins from 3 on today's going of good to firm with very little rain forecast. She is 5 wins from 11 for apprentice Josh Doyle and is the only runner today for the top stable of David O'Meara. O'Meara has a 35 wins from 192 runs, 18%, here over the last five seasons for an almost 26 point profit.
4.40 Kempton, Frozen Over
8/1 1pt e/w Bet365, Skybet, Ladbrokes, William Hill, Betfair SB - Placed +.6
Frozen Over has had quite a few tussles with Mr Lando and they seem very closely matched at the weights looking at their previous meetings. However, Frozen Over is almost double the odds of Mr Lando tonight and would have been closer to him on their last meeting over course and distance earlier this month had he not made a mess of the last fence. Frozen Over is also 4LBs below the rating of his last win at Ludlow this time last year with Mr Lando in 2nd (although it is probably true Mr Lando is better off at the weights on that day although not the last meeting). Of the principals in this race Frozen Over looks the best value.
6.40 Leicester, Bahamian C
16/1 1pt e/w Betvictor, Paddy Power, Betfair SB - Lost
These odds look very big for Bahamian C considering his 3rd of 10 beaten 1.25 lengths off 4LB higher in November 2015 over this distance of 1 miles 2 furlongs. Taking apprentice allowances into account he is 8LBs better off than that day. If coming on for his seasonal debut at Musselburgh in April, he could have a say. He represents the top stable of Richard Fahey who has an overall 16% record at this course. Incidentally, jockey Adam McNamara is one win from one ride here.
0.5pt e/w double Jebediah Shine 9/1 and Bahamian C 16/1 pays 169/1 with Betvictor - Lost
Tuesday - Day 2
3.25 Lingfield, Staintondale Lass
12/1 1pt e/w Bet365, Betvictor, Paddy Power, Betway, Betbright - Placed +3 (16/1 BOG)
Staintondale Lass is up 5LBs on her course and distance win in April. That day she looked like there was more to come even with the inevitable weight hike. She is also the only course and distance winner in the field. Stable have only had two runners in the last fortnight and one of them won at 7/1. Staintondale Lass is the stable's only runner today.
3.25 Lingfield, Silver Springs
33/1 1pt e/w Bet365, Betvictor - Lost
Although thoroughly exposed compared to most of these, these odds look far too big for a horse whose record here over course and distance reads 2nd of 10, beaten 0.75 lengths and 2nd of 8, beaten 0.5 lengths. Since those two runs she has had three runs over 6 furlongs and performed reasonably without troubling the judge. The second run referred to above over 7 furlongs was in March this year and off 1LB higher than today however with Philip Prince claiming 3LBs she is effectively 2LBs better off. Prince is 2 wins from 12 on her while all others are no wins from nine rides.
5.40 Wetherby, Yulong Xiongba - None Runner
12/1 1pt e/w Skybet, Betvictor, Ladbrokes, Coral, William Hill, Betfair SB - None Runner
Has ran well over the winter season on the all weather since the stable decided to race him over longer distances. He has done especially well around 1 mile 2 furlongs (today's distance), being close up and making the frame on two out of three occasions. The only time he did not make the frame over this distance was last time out in March at Wolverhampton when he played up badly in the stalls. When trained in Ireland he won on turf at shorter distances so the switch to turf should hold no worries although he is untried on good to firm. The Julie Camacho stable have had two runners in the last fortnight and one of them won at 14/1 a couple of days ago.
Wednesday - Day 3
4.20 Ayr, Persona Grata
10/1 1pt e/w Totesport, Betfred, Betvictor, Paddy Power, William Hill Betfair SB - Lost
A very open listed race where Persona Grata looks the value bet. She made her seasonal reappearance in a Group 2 over this distance of 1 mile 2 furlongs at Newmarket earlier this month and looked like she needed the run that day. Last year she appeared in three listed races,at this distance, all in France, winning two (albeit one on a disqualification) and finished second in the other one. One of these races was on the all weather and the other two on turf with 'soft' somewhere in the description. Although she has won on the advertised going of good to firm I suspect connections will welcome any rain and there is rain forecast although the amount varies depending on what website you look at (we backed her last September at Yarmouth however she became a late non runner because of Good to Firm going; although the track was later closed because it was deemed unsafe).
4.55 Ayr, Classy Anne
12/1 1pt e/w Betvictor, Paddy Power, Betfair SB - Placed +1.4
Won this last year off 3LB higher and with good apprentice Joe Doyle booked taking a further 3LBs off, she is 6LBs below last year's mark (although as a slight word of caution Doyle is no wins from 33 here and 0 from 13 for the stable). She is another one who we have to hope that the forecast rain will come as the current good to firm going will not be in her favour. She made a reasonable reappearance at Musselburgh in April and it is likely that this race has been targeted.
0.5pt e/w double at the odds quoted pays 142/1 with Paddy Power, Betvictor and Betfair SB - Lost
