D. Schwartzman vs S. Tsitsipas

This is actually probably my favourite play in quite some time and expect it to come through. Tsitsipas is impressing me a lot on the clay, with his powerful yet creative baseline play allowing him to dictate points and push opponents around. It's just the type of opponent Schwartzman will hate, who has a ROI of -17.3% against fellow shorter players and I find it hard to see how to he will be able to dictate against someone with playing such an aggressive style. Tsitsipas has now won 9 of his last 10 on clay, including a challengers win and I do think the reason he is underrated still is just a lack of exposure on the main tour where I think his current level is greatly underestimated. Lost a tough one to Goffin playing close to peak and on slightly faster courts where he can hit through at Barcelona, I don't believe many baseliners would beat him. Do expect Tsitispas to dominate this match and want to back him 2-0 tomorrow. Those more risk averse could back win only as I would fancy him a decider too.

S. Halep vs M. Rybarikova

For me, this personally is a tough one to call so a price of 5+ is an easy one to take. On any other clay court I wouldn't give Rybarikova much of a chance but indoors where she'll be able to get free points on serve and will be able to hit through Halep easier, she could have a great opportunity to win. Halep has won just 4/8 at Stuggart in her career so far, where her defensive fetching qualities are less effective on courts where the ball zips through. When looking at her wins, they've come against shorter baseliners in like for like matches. Although not completely relevant, Rybarikova has a fantastic record as underdog on grass (best place for picking up easy service points) winning 5/10 at 3+. She won 71% of her total service points won yesterday in winning priced around 5.0 against Kasatkina and her confidence will be sky high now after having an injury afflicted season to date. She's beaten Halep twice in her career already, once as a 6.5 shot in New Haven. Has a creative game and the courts of Stuggart will help her drop shots and slices and I really can see her winning tomorrow. First set massively crucial as Rybarikova tends to lose limply when things are not going her way.

Thursday - Day 4

P. Andujar vs R. Bautista Agut
Spain ATP Tour - Barcelona Open / 26th Apr 2018 @ 13:30
Match winner • P. Andujar
William Hill Odds: 3.25
Stake: 2 points - Lost

If I wanted to create a match up for finding a value bet this would be close to the top potentially. Bautista-Agut has been consistently overrated on clay courts throughout his career, which is shown by his career ROI of -10% on the surface and -22% in last 50 matches. I think a lot of bettors expect him to be better than he is, as Spaniards tend to grow up on the clay and hence it is usually their favourite surface. But Bautista-Aguts game is far more adept to having pace through the court and can get ground down on a clay court by talented baseliners. He has lost his last four matches priced 1.5 - 2.0 on the surface, including last weeks defeat to Goffin where he was pretty comprehensively outplayed.

Meanwhile since coming back from injury, Andujar has won two clay court titles on the bounce, including a great performance in the Marrakech final, dismantling Edmund 6-2, 6-2. He's one that does live up to reputation of a Spaniard who excels on clay and has an excellent record on the surface. Has a quite stunning 45.3% ROI as underdog on clay in the last 50 matches, although that is slightly exaggerated by the fact he's been so underrated since his injury. But over the years, Andujar has beaten the likes of Nishikori and Goffin on clay and once took Nadal to a deciding set TB as a 22.0 shot which he lost 12-10. His level looks good to me right now and he had a great run at Barcelona in 2015 where he made the final, so likes these courts.

The big worry for me would be fatigue and if he's not prepared to trade in long rallies and is not up for this mentally, he could lose easily. He's played 13 matches since the 28th of March which is a crazily high statistic and it may have been that fatigue got to him in the Fratengolo match in qualies which he lost, before coming through as a lucky loser. He's only played 3 matches in the last 10 days mind and will take the calculated risk that he should have enough in the tank for this one. Would expect Andujar to win this if at peak.
