Analysis – This seven-year old was a good fourth in a quite valuable novice handicap at Sandown a couple of years ago over a similar trip to this from an 8lb higher mark. He spent last year chasing where he put up some good performances despite not winning, all from slightly higher marks to his current hurdling rating. Was pulled-up on reappearance this season in a 0-140 but was right back to form when a close second to an improver back in this grade the last day and from a 2lb higher mark should be a serious player especially with 10lb taken off his back by claimer Niall Houlihan on ground that suits.

Analysis – This was a real head-scratcher, tight field and all go there with chances. I’ve landed on Oliver Greenhall’s six-year old who is still capable of improvement being a real consistent sort. Has yet to win over fences in four starts but hasn’t been beaten further than four-and-a-half lengths in either of those and he seems to favour long galloping tracks having shown his best form in two outings at Haydock from a pound lower. He has an entry in the much more valuable Greatwood Gold Cup on Saturday but connections are favouring this, the ground should be fine and Sean Bowen looks a good booking for this northern-raider.
