Tipsters Review - May 2, 2019

Todays Racing Tip – WADILSAFA

Time & Track – 4.25 Ascot (01/05)
Best Odds – 7/2 @ Bet365

Stake – 1pt win

Analysis – A winner in three of his five career starts so far (all over this 1m trip) including in a handicap off a mark of 100 before winning a listed race when last seen in September at Sandown. He wasn’t so good over 1m2f here in a Group 3 at the Royal meeting but that trip would have stretched him. He’s open to further improvement as a four-year old this season and though Barney Roy has shown more he hasn’t been seen for 557-days and might just need this. Jim Crowley favours this son of Frankel ahead of 2017 winner Tabarrak, he’s much less exposed and with ground in favour can hopefully land this before potentially lining up in the Group 1 Lockinge Stakes at Newbury in a few weeks (has an entry).

Todays Racing Tip – HIGHLY SPRUNG
Time & Track – 4.45 Pontefract (01/05)
Best Odds – 4/1 @ Bet365

Stake – 1pt win

Analysis – All seven victories have come over this six-furlong trip and he arrives here with a staying on third over the minimum at this track just over a fortnight ago. He’s dangerously well handicapped off his lowest ever mark (14lb below highest winning perch) and has the added bonus of the plum draw. Good-to-firm ground is well in his favour and if capable of returning to the form of his C&D double last summer then he’s got a fantastic chance of adding a fourth course win to his name.

Todays Racing Tip – LIVELOVELAUGH
Time & Track – 7.10 Punchestown (01/05)
Best Odds – 8/1 @ William Hill

Stake – 1pt win

Analysis – This nine-year old was heavily backed approaching the off in the Grand National and rn well for a long way until tailing off and he was midfield prior to that in the Kim Muir at Cheltenham (3m2f) but the drop back to 2m4f should help a great deal with his form figures reading 1-4-1-4-F-3. He won a bumper here on rules debut and was a close third over hurdles at this festival in a strong handicap two year ago so has a liking for the course and still looks fairly handicapped to go well from this mark. He’s the choice of Ruby Walsh and the rain that’s fallen will only aid his cause, a tough handicap but I’d be hopeful that he’ll be in the shake-up.
