Analysis - Won a heavy-ground novice over the minimum five-furlong trip with a bit in hand on debut before going down by two-and-a-half lengths on his most recent outing in a conditions stakes on quick ground at Newbury. The softer ground he’ll encounter here shouldn’t be a hindrance as we’ve seen he goes on it and Silvestre De Sousa teamed up with Mark Johnston to win this race last year & in 2011 (trainer has won three of last seven renewals) and his yard remain in good form.

Analysis - 

Returned from a 574-day absence three weeks ago when contesting the Group 3 Swinton hurdle at Haydock and although a well beaten ninth you’ve got to think that he’d have needed that run and it’s interesting that they pitched the nine-year old into deepish waters. Before his setback he’d produced a string of fine efforts over the summer months of 2016 most notably when winning a listed event over the extended two-miles at this venue. He won three other times in that period and was beaten a head again at this venue so has course form to figure. Charlie Hammond is back in the saddle claiming a valuable 7lb and he’s 2/4 on this gelding so providing he’s come on for that reappearance he should go well with all his wins coming on this good ground.
