Analysis – Seven times a winner over 5f/6f on all types of going so there won’t be an issue in regards to the ground. He makes a quick reappearance after a disappointing effort at York on Saturday but that can be forgiven as it came in a competitive class 2 handicap and in much calmer waters here this six-year old can be seen in a much better light. He’s off a mark of 83, which is 3lb above his highest winning perch but the talented Sean Davis can claim that 3lb which also technically puts him a pound above a Goodwood win three starts back, ahead of a subsequent winner. Can go well if handling this stiff track, though has won at Pontefract so should be fine.

Analysis – This ten-year old hasn’t won since 2016 but is now back down to that same mark of 125 as when successful at Doncaster. He has competed in the two big spring festivals in successive years since, finishing second & fourth in the Grand Annual (off 137 & 143) as well as being denied by a neck in the Grade 3 Red Rum 9off 142). He’s very well handicapped these days and since joining Charlie Longsden’s yard he’s shown he’s still capable of being competitive having ran two solid races the last twice, one over C&D. There are three notable front-runners in this small field and they may well set this up perfectly for this son of Doyen.
