Tipsters Review - April 8, 2019

Today’s Horse Racing Tips

Todays Racing Tip – CANARDIER
Time & Track – 1.45 Aintree (05/04)
Best Odds – 9/1 @ Betfair

Stake – 1pt win

Analysis – This seven-year old has had a light campaign with only the two runs so far. The first of those was a victory in a novice hurdle at Cheltenham in October and he returned from a 138-day break in the Coral Cup (handicap debut) when putting in a solid effort to finish fifth, beaten two-and-a-half lengths (2m5f) and this slight drop in trip from a only a pound higher could see him gain success with Barry Geraghty back in the saddle (twice ridden the gedling, won and finished a close third). Don’t think the softer surface will matter too much as it was soft ground at Cheltenham.

Todays Racing Tip – ITCHY FEET
Time & Track – 2.20 Aintree (05/04)
Best Odds – 10/3 @ Betfair

Stake – 1pt win

Analysis – This five-year old has improved all season and after winning a bumper and a novice hurdle he followed that up by landing the hat-trick when defeating Grand Sancy in a listed event at Kempton. He was a good second at Cheltenham in a Grade 2 behind Elixir De Nutz, who was fancied for the Supreme before being pulled-out, when staying on well and he as conceding 5lb to the winner that day. Things didn’t go ideally in the Supreme when reportedly breaking a few blood vessels but he stayed on well and finished a very respectable third beaten five-lengths. The horse in fourth was a close second yesterday here and if all goes to plan in this then he’s the one to beat and hopefully give young-trainer Olly Murphy a first Grade 1 success.

Todays Racing Tip – BALLYHILL

Time & Track – 4.05 Aintree (05/04)
Best Odds – 12/1 @ Betfair

Stake – 1pt win

Analysis – I’ve tipped Janika the last few outings when touched off by the narrowest margins behind Siruh Du Lac including in the Brown Advisory Plate latest, but he’s up another 6lb for that and may struggle to concede the weight (though will relish the softer ground). I prefer Ballyhill for Nigel Twiston-Davies (yard looks to be hitting some form recently) who was in fact third behind the aforementioned in January but has been dropped 2lb and is 14lb better off with that rival. He was successful on the mildmay course on soft ground earlier in the season and if taking to these fences looks handicapped to be competitive. I also think Grand Sefton fifth Forest Des Aigles could outrun his odds on ground he’ll love.

Todays Racing Tip – EMITOM
Time & Track – 4.40 Aintree (05/04)
Best Odds – 9/2 @ William Hill

Stake – 1pt win

Analysis – This is an interesting race with Champ stepping up in trip after his good second in the Ballymore but also stepping up in trip is the unbeaten Emitom, who was kept away from Cheltenham with this race in mind by connections. He beat Lisnagar Oscar at Ffos Las comfortably in November on soft ground and defied a double penalty the last day at Newbury. This is a tougher race for sure but he’s improving very well, looks as though he’ll get the trip, the ground will be in his favour and the fact he comes here without festival exertions tilts the scales in his favour for me.
