Analysis – This ten-year old has relatively low-mileage on the clock and comes here having hit the crossbar the last twice, finishing second both times. The first of those came over C&D from a 3lb lower mark and he actually won on this card last year from 2lb lower in a better race than this so it may be interesting that connections have decided to go for this lesser event. He likes the course having only finished out the places once in five visits, with that one win and he’ll handle the ground just fine so I’d be hopeful of a bold show.

Analysis – Put behind him a disappointing racecourse debut at Newmarket by finishing second and third in a couple of novice events before scoring with any amount in hand when last seen back in late September at Beverley on good-to-soft (all at around 7f). He makes his handicap debut here and he’s bred to relish this step up to 1m2f being out of New Approach and he’s ran well on good ground. His trainer has been in good form in the past week having saddled four winners from his last six runners and I’m hoping that run can continue here with this colt.

Analysis – Was a good third on reappearance run at Fakenham a couple of weeks ago and he’ll strip fitter here with his form usually improving after a pipe-opener. He won twice in the Autumn with the most recent of those coming from 3lb lower but he has won from a pound higher mark in the past so is handicapped to go well. 7lb-claimer Jordan Nailor takes over the reigns here and he’s hoping to maintain his 100% record on the gelding having won twice on him in the summer of 2017. He acts on all ground but his best form has come on this quicker surface and if improving on his last run then I’d expect him to go close.

Analysis – This five-year old won the Spring Mile (class 2) at Doncaster at the start of last season from a mark of 81 which is easily the best form on offer here and he’s now able to race off a 6lb lower rating having not won since. His last four starts have hinted that his next win isn’t far away including the last day when beaten a length at Wolverhampton when headed late on over the extended mile so the drop back to the bare mile will suit. He’s off the same mark here and the return to turf may well be what’s required for him to get his head in front again.
