Analysis – Tom Dascombe’s six-year old was fourth in this last year from a lower draw but is now 3lb lower and stall 8 may not be as bad as you think if Wednesday’s results are anything to go by. He’s gone close over C&D on more than one occasion previously which includes a victory back in 2017 and this mark of 92 is one of which he’s won off on the all-weather, as well as a couple of narrow defeats. His trainer enjoys success here and the softer ground will play to his strengths, arrives in good form having won a class 3 handicap and also finished a close fourth in a conditions stakes both on the synthetics.

Analysis – Made a very pleasing to life with Michael Appleby when winning his first two handicap starts (6f/7f) and the latter of those came on heavy ground from only a 2lb lower mark. His run on reappearance at Newbury was too bad to be true but was much better the last day finishing a good fourth over a mile at Musselburgh (winner has won again since). He’s drawn nicely and this confirmed front-runner will most likely make this a stamina test which won’t suit some of these and no man better for the role than Silvestre De Sousa, who is 1/1 on this colt.

Analysis – This eight-year old ran some good races when in the care of Nicky Henderson, finishing third off a big-weight in a class 2 handicap at Sandown as well as being beaten seven-lengths in the 2018 Coral Cup and though his form this season hasn’t been great (all over hurdles), his first few starts for Dan Skelton were promising and they came over fences which he reverts to here now. He’s handicapped to win this if showing that previous form and the Skelton’s have started this season how they finished the last.
