Today’s Horse Racing Tips

Todays Racing Tip – ANGELS BREATH
Time & Track – 1.30 Cheltenham (12/03)
Best Odds – 9/2 @ Bet365

Stake – 1pt win

Analysis – The curtain-raiser of the festival looks completely wide-open though may be lacking that touch of class of yesteryear. I was sweet on Elixir De Nutz’s chances but he’s been ruled out this evening so it was back to the drawing board. Al Dancer won the re-arranged Betfair Hurdle nicely though I feel the form of that won’t work out as well as usual and both Klassical Dream and Aramon may need to find more on their run, though preference would be for the former. Mister Fisher has won his last two which have been good trials for this but I prefer his stablemate who’s the choice of stable jockey Nico de Boinville. He won well on debut (soft) and followed that up with a close 2nd at Kempton last month when a bit keen early on. He stayed on well near the finish that day and I think the combination of a bigger field and stronger pace will help him settle better and he’ll be staying on well at the end as he won a point-to-point before joining seven barrows. 1. Angels Breath, 2. Al Dancer, 3. Mister Fisher.

Todays Racing Tip – HARDLINE
Time & Track – 2.10 Cheltenham (12/03)
Best Odds – 5/1 @ Bet365

Stake – 1pt win

Analysis – The Arkle has favoured odds-on shots six times in the past seven runnings but thankfully from a betting perspective we have a more open market this year. Glen Forsa hammered Kalashnikov at Sandown but that was a three-runner race so it’s hard to judge the form of that. You’d have to think if Lalor can show the form of his Cheltenham win that he’s got a good chance but it’s Gordon Elliott’s seven-year old who gets my vote. He’s been good over fences this season, winning 3/5 (twice in graded company) with the best of those coming over a similar trip to this at Navan. His stamina didn’t hold up over 2m5f behind La Bague Au Roi (form franked twice already) so the drop in trip will be a plus and the softer ground will play to his strengths. At a price I also like the look of Ornua on his Sandown form when just beaten by Dynamite Dollars (previous fav for this before injury) and he could well run a big price. 1. Hardline, 2. Lalor, 3. Ornua.

Todays Racing Tip – MISTER WHITAKER
Time & Track – 2.50 Cheltenham (12/03)
Best Odds – 8/1 @ William Hill

Stake – 1pt win

Analysis – A handful of these contested this race last year and if Coo Star Sivola had come into this race in better form then he may well have been the selection but I’m happy to take a chance on 2018 Close Brothers’ winner seeing out this new trip. He landed a course double when winning at last year’s festival which is a plus and has shaped as though he’d appreciate the extra distance. Still only a seven-year old he’s open to further progress and his run behind Cyrname at Ascot (though beaten 26-lengths) still looks good form and he’ll handle the underfoot conditions. Those at bigger prices that I think could sneak a place include Beware The Bear (stays well), Vintage Clouds (3rd last year) and Calipto (ran well in two previous festivals). 1. Mister Whitaker, 2. Coo Star Sivola, 3. Beware The Bear.

Todays Racing Tip – A PLUS TARD
Time & Track – 4.50 Cheltenham (12/03)
Best Odds – 13/2 @ Coral

Stake – 1pt win

Analysis – There’s a few in here that like to go forward including one which I think can run a good race, Highway One O One, who was a sound 2nd behind JLT fancy Kildistart over a similar trip to this on the new course on Trials Day but he may find it tough to make all in this big-field. Tower Bridge boasts good novice hurdling form from last year but it’s the five-year old A Plus Tard who I think can take this. He’s yet to run a bad race over fences in three starts, including an eighteen-runner success at Naas and he came on for that when 2nd in a Grade 3 the last day against higher-rated rivals so an opening mark of 140 may prove generous, conditions will suit and Rachel Blackmore has been on board for those three starts. 1. A Plus Tar, 2. Tower Bridge, 3. Highway One O One.

Result – Won 6.5

Todays Racing Tip – DISCORAMA

Time & Track – 5.30 Cheltenham (12/03)
Best Odds – 13/2 @ Betfair

Stake – 1pt win

Analysis – At the head of the market both OK Corral and Ballward are partnered by top amateur riders but I feel the former might just be vulnerable over this marathon trip and I think out of those two it’d be the later who has the better chance. He was handed a Grade 3 at Naas the last day when Discorama came down at the final fence when there was a real race on and with a clear round I’m in favour of the Paul Nolan-trained six-year old to come out on top as he shaped as if this longer trip would suit. He was a good fifth in the Drinmore behind a couple of top-class horses and he has course form having finished second in last year’s Martin Pipe. From the others I’d give 2018 fourth Impulsive Star place claims having won the Classic Chase at Warwick and also Chef Des Obeaux would have a squeak if brushing up on his jumping. 1. Discorama, 2. Ballward, 3. Chef Des Obeaux.
