Analysis - This seven-year old has a couple of wins to his name (2m4f/3m1f) and is only 3lb above his only handicap success. That win came over the longer of those two trips but the drop in distance on this heavy ground shouldn’t be too much of an issue as he’s got the stamina and has ran well enough with plenty of give in the ground before, including when beaten a neck on heavy back in the spring of last year. He made an encouraging enough return to action last season to suggest he can go do so again off a workable mark and his trainer Lucy Wadham has a 44% strike-rate here with her hurdlers in the past five seasons, so hopefully a big run is on the cards.

Analysis - Has tended to need his reappearance run so can be forgiven his down the field return over a trip too short at Kelso a month ago and the step back up in trip from a 2lb lower mark should see him go better. He’s still 6lb higher than for his last win which came at Aintree last December but ran a couple of nice races in defeat off a 4lb higher mark in Grade 3 handicaps at Cheltenham, third behind Aso before filling the same spot behind subsequent Brown Advisory Plate first & second Siruh Du Lac & Janika. The ground is in favour, as is the trip and if coming on for that return to action then I can see this eight-year old going close for Nigel Twiston Davies who remains in good form (only runner on the card).
