Analysis – Has taken really well to chasing this season in four outings, winning twice and beaten no more than five-lengths combined on the other two. The handicapper has left him on a mark of 112 in which he was fourth the last day (2m7f) and the form of that has been franked since. The drop in trip won’t be a problem having already won over this 2m4f and his trainer Sue Smith has won four of the past seven runnings of this contest (yard also runs Never Up who can’t be discounted either), stable-jockey Danny Cook rides.

Analysis – Has had excuses on first two chase starts, firstly the trip was too short (stayed on well for fifth) and more recently the ground was far too quick for his liking in a small field event at Kelso. On both occasions he jumped right so going this way round will suit, gets a longer trip and the ground is on the soft side. He’s won and gone close in similar conditions to this over hurdles last season with the win coming in this grade. I’m taking a bit of a gamble that everything falls into place with his jumping in this big-field but there’s no-one better in the saddle than Richard Johnson to get him into a nice rhythm.

Analysis – Only victory so far came on handicap debut at Chepstow from an 11lb lower mark but has ran well on three of her last four starts over hurdles, all from 2lb lower. She just didn’t take to the larger obstacles when last seen at Bangor in October on ground that would’ve been too lively for her. She returns a fresh horse and has undergone a wind operation since, the heavy ground is in favour and Henry Oliver’s horses have been in great shape recently and James Dixon, claiming a handy 7lbs, has a 33% strike-rate when riding for this Worcestershire-based handler.
