Analysis - This eight-year old has been chasing for the past three seasons bar one run back over hurdles, which came in this race last year when finishing a good second behind Silver Streak (went close in graded races since and was also third in the Champion Hurdle). He’s off a 2lb lower mark this time round and his record fresh reads well having finished second in each of the last four seasons on reappearance and there’s every chance of him going one better with the soft ground in favour (all six career wins have come on this terrain), if able to reproduce first time out form then he’s got every chance for a top yard who won this in successive years back in 2014 & 2015.

Analysis - The return to Ascot could help this mare after a couple of mediocre runs this term, though on penultimate outing she stayed on well at the finish over 7f in a good handicap at York and is now 3lb lower than for that run. She’s back on the same mark as when beaten a nose in this year’s Royal Hunt Cup over C&D and that came on soft ground, another few yards that day and she’d have won, so with conditions to suit and from a winnable rating I can see her being involved in the finish if reproducing that level of form. She won her only other appearance at this course when landing a listed race (again over C&D) and she has the added bonus of a low draw, which has had a positive effect in this race previously. Let’s just hope Jamie Spencer doesn’t hold on to her for too long.
