Analysis – These veterans’ races are often very hard to predict and this is no different though I’m keen on this eleven-year old who gets his favoured soft ground for the first time since virtually a year ago to the day when a good third in a class 2 at Newbury. He’s now 6lb below the mark he ran off that day due to three below-average efforts this season, though can be forgiven on account of the quicker surface. He’s a pound higher than his highest winning mark but went close three times last season from higher marks than this and I, as possibly many others would agree, think that’s it’s interesting to see Noel Fehily travel here for just the one ride given he’s set to retire from the saddle on Saturday – he can’t imagine he’d be coming here just for a schooling session. If able to show the form of last season and put current outings behind him then I think he’s a serious player here dropped into class 4 company (50% of career wins have been in this grade and under Fehily).
