Analysis - He went down by a nose over track and trip on New Year’s Day in first-time cheekpieces and though up 4lb for that I still think if arriving in the same form he’s got a good chance in what looks a slightly weaker race on paper. Aiden Coleman rode him for the first time that day and keeps the ride here, has won on a variety of ground including soft/heavy and he’s got some nice course form (2-1-P-3). This eight-year old has to carry his fair share of weight but on his day he’s a smart horse.

Analysis - Was pulled out at the start at Warwick a couple of weeks back when I tipped him so I’m sticking with him again here. I think this is a talented horse, he won well at Chepstow when stepped up to 2m3f for the first time and the further step up in trip here should suit this son of Oscar, who’d previously finished a close second in an Aintree bumper behind Edwardstone (was caught in the final strides in a Grade 2 last weekend). It’s an interesting race and hopefully this six-year old can show up well.

Analysis - Returned from a year and a half off the track with a couple of solid third-placed efforts for new trainer Lucinda Russell and both of those came in better races than this. He was beaten by a similar margin both times, behind Sammy Bill and Ravenhill Road, the latter a leading fancy for the big listed chase at Doncaster at 3.15. He’s been dropped a pound since and 3/4 of his wins have come on soft ground, so conditions are in favour and even a repeat of those two runs would see him involved I’d have thought.
