Analysis – Was beaten by Eeh Bah Gum four starts ago when conceding 2lbs but he is now receiving 12lb from that rival for only a two-and-a-quarter length defeat and there’s a suggestion that the handicapper may have caught up with the latter for now. He dead-heated at Hamilton with another improver before not being beaten far in two subsequent starts over six-furlongs. The drop back half-a-furlong will probably suit better with him not seeing the 6f trip out entirely and stable-jockey Paul Hanagan is back doing the steering.

Analysis – Stepped up to this seven-furlong trip for the first time on handicap debut the last day at Leicester when, conceding 18-lengths, was beaten two-lengths by the re-opposing Greeley. She dwelt slightly when leaving the stalls that day but stayed on well and this stiff track should suit this filly, who is better off at the weights with the aforementioned so should get closer for a trainer who has won this race for the past two seasons.

Analysis – Both handicap victories to date have come over this C&D on the forecasted good-to-firm ground. The first of those was last August from a mark of 83 in a class 3 and this three-year old colt topped that effort in a class 2 last month when beating the progressive Yafta (since won a Group 3) by a head from a pound lower. He’s 5lb higher now but has been dropped another pound since fading late here a fortnight ago and has also dropped down a couple of grades. Silvestre De Sousa is back on board (record of 2/7 on this horse) so could go well.
