Analysis – Although a ten-race maiden he has hinted that his turn shouldn’t be far away when beaten only half a length from a pound lower over C&D just over a week ago. That effort came in heavy ground and this slightly better surface should help his cause. His trainer has won this contest twice in recent years, one of which was last year’s renewal and despite having three in the field I feel this may be his main hope now dropping into a class 6 for the first time in handicap company. He’s had two runs over this mile trip and finished second on both occasions beaten less than a length from a mark of 66 & 67 (he’s off the latter in this).

Analysis – Arrives here in search of a four-timer and It’d be a surprise if this gelding doesn’t achieve this from only a 3lb higher mark than when successful at Stratford a month ago. He built on three second placed efforts when scoring easily at both Cartmel and Bangor before that Stratford win (over the extended 2m twice and once over 2m1f). One of those second placed efforts came over C&D so is used to this track and this quicker ground is what’s required having also won on this surface on the level, looks a good thing here.
