Analysis – Has gone close in two chase starts so far and the form of those races has worked out with the winner of both scoring since. Ran well when beaten two-lengths in a Cheltenham handicap hurdle last month and was beaten the same distance in last year’s Martin Pipe at the festival. The drying ground will suit and Phillip Hobbs has been amongst the winners of late so should go well with chasing experience already up this gelding’s sleeve.

Analysis – This gelding was ever so impressive the last day when winning the Craven over track and trip last month with Roaring Lion well beaten and I see no reason why the form of that should be reversed here. He beat the improving Invincible Army on debut before going close in the Chesham behind September (both over shorter) and the step up to a mile has suited this colt. Aidan O’Brien saddles the market leaders but this horse has the beating of Saxon Warrior on collateral form and the form of Charlie Appleby at present is pretty remarkable (50% strike-rate in past 28 days). No shock that William Buick rides again and this three-year old could take this to gain 2000 Guineas glory.

Analysis – Started his career with a couple of wins as a two-year old and continued that on third start of last season when a five-length winner on soft ground at Newmarket off a 9lb lower mark. Went close at Newmarket on his penultimate start before scoring on the polytrack at Chelmsford last week in first-time cheekpieces. They are kept on for today and Gerald Mosse has a 30% strike-rate when teaming up with Mark Johnston. Tricky race but if putting best foot forward should go well.
