Todays Racing Tip – LALOR
Time & Track – 3.00 Aintree (06/04)
Best Odds – 4/1 @ Marathon Bet
Stake – 1pt win
Analysis – I’m happy to draw a line through his run in the Arkle when pulled-up before the race really started to get competitive and didn’t seem suited by Sandown the time before. He was however very impressive at Cheltenham in November when winning a Grade 2 with ease,he jumped so well that day and if reproducing that form here then I think he’ll make it 3/3 at this course having won the Grade 2 bumper in 2017 before going on to land the Grade 1 novice hurdle ahead of Vision Des Flos last year (Richard Johnson has been on board for all three of those wins). Ornua could go well from the front on his best form (has beaten Cadmium a few times this season) but he was 42-lengths behind the selection in that novice hurdle here last year.

Todays Racing Tip – OLDGRANGEWOOD
Time & Track – 4.20 Aintree (06/04)
Best Odds – 12/1 @ Sky Bet
Stake – 1pt win
Analysis – He ran well enough at Warwick over 2m4f on penultimate outing when carrying top-weight and was a sound ninth in the Ultima (3m1f) the last day. This eight-year old was fourth in this race last year and is now 9lb lower, has a good record at this track also having finished third behind Smad Place from 10lb higher and was making headway when being brought down back in 2016. It’s likely this race has been in mind for a while by connections, he’s sitting 8lb below his highest winning perch and has won on soft ground though wouldn’t mind it drying out a little bit. He could outrun his odds from a dangerous mark.

Todays Racing Tip – RATHVINDEN
Time & Track – 5.15 Aintree (06/04)
Best Odds – 9/1 @ Sky Bet
Stake – 1pt win
Analysis – There’s a hell of a lot to like about this eleven-year old going into this. His win in last year’s four-miler at the festival was impressive and the form of that is rock solid with Ms Parfois in 2nd and future Ladbroke Trophy winner Sizing Tennessee way back in third. Has been lightly-raced since, only having the two runs – he was fourth in a Leopardstown Grade 1 staying on strongly over 3m and returned from a 305-day break with victory in the Grade 3 Bobbyjo Chase back in February. He’ll like the softer conditions, has shown he’s a dour stayer and isn’t short of speed either having won graded races over 2m4f as well as finishing third behind Faugheen in the Neptune back in 2014 (now the Ballymore). He’s been completely laid out for this race and Ruby Walsh is only booked for this ride on the whole card. We all know a lot of luck is required in this race, but if getting a clear round I’d be confident of him being heavily involved.

Todays Racing Tip – RAMSES DE TEILLEE
Time & Track – 5.15 Aintree (06/04)
Best Odds – 25/1 @ William Hill
Stake – 1pt win
Analysis – This seven-year old has progressed nicely since going chasing and enjoyed a good novice campaign last season winning twice and filing second spot the same amount of times. He didn’t run bad in last year’s Ultima when seventh and was successful on second outing this season from a 14lb lower mark. He’s progressed massively since then in two starts when stepping up to marathon trips, beaten just over a length in the Welsh Grand National behind Elegant Escape before an even better effort in the National Trial at Haydock when showing no signs of fatigue (over 3m4f). He’s still open to further improvement and his trainer David Pipe has been firing in the winners recently (26% strike-rate in past fortnight). The ground is fine and I think he’ll stay this even longer distance, comes into the race after a short-break and could go well at nice odds.
