Analysis – Won this contest last year from a 7lb lower mark coming off a similar break to what he’s had this time around. He was tailed off on last run over C&D but has been dropped 2lb for that and connections seemingly target this race with him finishing 2nd the previous year. This nine-year old is 2/4 over the trip and drops back into class 5 company, versatile ground-wise and Rachel Mcdonald (5lb-claimer) gets on well with this gelding, should go well.

Analysis – This horse has been running consistently well in recent starts which has resulted in four wins and some good 2nd placed efforts, mostly over a mile. He tried this slightly longer trip the last day at Longchamp when beaten just over a length and had previously filled the same place at Sandown (both in Group 3’s). She’s won races on both slow and fast ground so no worries there and can make another bold bid from the front with Silvestre De Sousa a good booking and trainer in good form.

Analysis – Ended last campaign with a poor effort at Hexham but prior to that had been progressive with 3m wins at Wetherby and Warwick, the latter in a 0-135 handicap and this mare followed that run up with a decent third in a class 2. She gets on well with John Kington (two wins and two places from five outings) and this softer ground will play to her strengths. They’ve dropped her into a 0-110 on seasonal reappearance and in the hope that she ‘doesn’t need the run’ can see her go close if rediscovering previous form.
