Todays Racing Tip – CARAVAN OF HOPE
Time & Track – 1.15 Newbury (17/08)
Best Odds – 5/1 @ William Hill
Stake – 1pt win
Analysis – Handicap debut here for this three-year old and an opening mark of 81 could well be exploited. He has been beaten a neck over 1m1f as well as a short-head over 1m4f in a maiden & novice respectively in his short career so far, though his best effort based on RPR’s came when fourth (beaten just over two-lengths) in a Goodwood maiden with subsequent winners coming out of that race. He’s down in trip to 1m2f but the softer surface will definitely be an advantage and he could be the answer to a tricky opener.

Todays Racing Tip – GRACEFUL MAGIC
Time & Track – 3.20 Newmarket (17/08)
Best Odds – 9/2 @ bet365
Stake – 1pt win
Analysis – This filly won over the minimum on debut at Sandown and added to that when dead-heating here over 6f the last day with Go Well Spicey further behind and this actaully looks slightly weaker on paper. The manner in which she finished off that race would suggest that she’s well worth a try over 7f now and though raised 6lb she’s open to further improvement. She’s ran on a softer surface once before when well down the field but that came in the Group 3 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot so a better show could be expected in much calmer waters.

Todays Racing Tip – OCALA
Time & Track – 4.45 Newbury (17/08)
Best Odds – 11/2 @ Betfair
Stake – 1pt win
Analysis – Ran well off this new mark of 84 in a competitive handicap at Glorious Goodwood when midfield and now takes a drop in class. She won well over 1m at Chepstow back in May before scoring at Chester from 3lb lower on first go at this sort of trip. The 5lb-claim of William Carver will help as that would technically put her 2lb below her highest winning mark and any give in the ground would be fine, should go close.

Todays Racing Tip – MISTER CHIANG
Time & Track – 4.55 Ripon (17/08)
Best Odds – 6/1 @ William Hill
Stake – 1pt win
Analysis – Was hampered when attempting to land a hat-trick at Brighton recently and I’m giving this three-year old a chance that he could resume his progress for a trainer who has won this race three times in the past seven years. He’s still only 2lb above that last winning mark and this isn’t as tough as that most recent engagement, the softer ground shouldn’t pose to much of a threat as he was a close second in a Goodwood novice last year on soft and Joe Fanning takes the ride which is a plus.
