Analysis – Won this race last year from a 4lb higher mark on the forecasted good-to-soft ground (both career wins have come on this ground and over this C&D, has placed in other two outings here). His latest outing on quicker ground was solid when second at Haydock and this race looks to have been the target again. Joe Fanning, who was on board for the first time when last seen, keeps the ride here and he’s handicapped to run a big race.

Analysis – This veteran absolutely relishes good ground with all but one of his nine career wins coming on good/good-to-firm and his record at this venue is impressive (2-1-1-1) all coming over this 2m5f distance too. He goes well when fresh as shown on only outing this year back in March when bolting up by 13-lengths here from a 7lb lower mark and this 97-day break will have done him good as he’s won multiple times when fresh. He’s still a pound lower than his highest winning perch and Nick Schofield has a great rapport with the 13-year old having won no less than seven times on him. If in the same form as he was in March you’d been disappointed if he doesn’t go close.

Analysis – This four-year old was deemed good enough to run in a Derby trial in April last year (finished 8/8 at 100/1, winner of the race was Cracksman). His only victory to date came over 1m2f at Chelmsford in December from a 5lb lower mark and recent outings have suggested that his next win isn’t far away. He went down by just under a length on first try at this 1m4f trip (winner has come out and won since) on penultimate outing and went well again over a shorter trip at Epsom the last day. Now back up in trip and significant booking of Silvestre De Sousa this grade-dropper should run well.
