Analysis – This former point-to-point winner may have only won the once under rules but that came over today’s 3m2f trip over timber at Stratford on the forecast good ground from a 3lb lower mark than for his handicap chase debut. He returned from a 500-day absence with a well held sixth of eight at Uttoxeter but that was a much better race than this over 2m4f and the winner is the 153-rated over hurdles Lil Rockerfeller (who has since won a class 2). That was his stable debut and with this seven-year old going back up in trip and dropped into 0-120 company he may well have improvement forthcoming especially if first-time cheekpieces do the trick, he looks a sound jumper.

Analysis – Won this race last year by six-lengths from a 7lb lower mark under today’s pilot James Davies before almost doubling up at Leicester but was beaten by just under two-lengths off a pound lower than he has here. Returned from a break with a good 2nd at Stratford and that was a stronger race than this. The fourth that day has won since whilst the winner contested a class 2 at Cheltenham at the weekend. He went on to win this last year after a run so again if coming on for that reappearance should put up a bold bid to defend his crown with the good ground a massive advantage in his chances.
