This seven-year-old has ran well in defeat on his first two starts of this campaign, beaten around the four-length mark on both occasions, with the first of those coming over a trip too far, and that showed as he weakened inside the final furlong or so when trying to lay down a challenge. He was second in a match the last day behind a horse who landed a hat-trick so that can be seen as a solid effort and, now dropped 2lb in the ratings, he looks on an interesting mark. He was second in this contest last year, albeit from a 7lb lower mark, but returns to the C&D in which he boasts strong form figures of 3-1-2-1-1. He is sitting just 4lbs above his highest winning mark and 2lb below the one in which he was beaten only a length back in May against slightly stronger opponents. He should really be going close today if showing his best form.
