Analysis - You’d be hoping for a softer surface when backing a Venetia Williams horse but her five-year old mare could be worth chancing in this as she may well be thrown in on handicap debut. She won a small-field novice at Haydock at 66/1 in March (1/4 fav unseated) but the third horse went on to win next time out off a mark of 130 and this daughter of Kapgarde opens her handicap account off only 100 so I’m happy to give her a chance here.

Analysis - Has gone close the last twice at Leicester, the latter coming in this grade when beaten three-quarters of a length off this mark of 96 (winner was a close 2nd in a subsequent Group 3 in Dundalk) and still only a three-year old has plenty more progression in him. He’s 3/6 over this five-furlong trip and one of those wins came over C&D last October. The good ground is fine though any rain that falls will help his chances and looks likely to go close.
