Analysis – Brian Barr’s six-year old is a sixteen-race maiden but has shown glimpses that he can strike and the handicapper continues to drop his mark. His opening mark was 114 and now he’s running off a very manageable 93 and the assistance of Richard Johnson would suggest that connections feel he’s got a good chance (has gone close in a couple of novice events on him). His more recent poor showings were on soft/heavy ground so the forecasted good ground will help with him running a good race when 3rd here in May and a couple of winners have come out of that race. Risks attached being winless but it looks a weak contest.

Analysis – This seven-year old is 7lb higher than for a neck success over track and trip a fortnight ago but that may not be enough to stop this gelding who boasts good form over C&D with two wins and a 2nd from three outings. This is his second run after a wind op so should be more to come after that recent win after a short break and Jack Quinlan, who gets on well with this horse, is again doing the steering.

Analysis – Showed nothing over hurdles for Venetia Williams but has been better since going chasing and swapping yards to Jack Barber. He built on a 2nd over 3m1f on chase debut by winning a C&D handicap by five-lengths and is only 4lb higher here. He was well held over a little further next time but was back to form when a close 3rd again over 2m5f and there’s a suggestion that this gelding is best caught when fresh having come off a break twice to win a couple of point-to-points and that win here was after a short break.
