This gelding was running a good race and was seemingly still travelling well when unseating in this contest last year off a 4lb lower mark and went on to gain compensation the next day when scoring in good style at Ascot off that same mark. He went up 8lb for that success which is the mark in which he ran off in the Grand National Trial, again at this course, when holding every chance at two out before not seeing out the trip and weakened back into fifth. That came over the extended 3m4f so dropping back to the extended 3m1f should suit better and he arrives here after hopefully blowing away the cobwebs with a never nearer fifth over 3m at Exeter on good-to-soft at the beginning of November. If he comes on for that reappearance then he might well outrun his double-figure odds now back at this course on testing ground (his two wins in the UK have come on soft ground and he carries a nice weight here). Remastered will be hard to beat if none the worse for his fall in the Ladbroke Trophy but he is too short in a field of this size and I’m happy to go for an each-way alternative.
Enqarde stays on best to take the @Virgin Bet Tommy Whittle Handicap Chase in style! 🏇
