Wolves vs Norwich Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview

With Huddersfield dropping points away and Newcastle displaying inconsistency, Norwich are emerging as a likely promotion favourite. Wolves have been damningly inconsistent but pose a huge threat on their day. Below are our predictions, betting tips and preview.

Game: Wolves vs Norwich
Venue: Molineux Stadium
Kick-off: Saturday 1st October, 5.30pm

Norwich were set to take the reigns at the top of the Championship table yesterday, until Newcastle scored two injury time goals to secure a 4-3 win. The Canaries had left 3-1 during the second half. It ended a run of five straight wins for the Canaries who are a clear title contender.

They still find themselves second in the table, two points behind Huddersfield but still ahead of Newcastle, and will be hoping to avoid their first back to back defeats of the season here. The inconsistency Wolves have shown either makes them a huge threat or a potential pushover here.

Days after Barnsley came here and won 4-0, Wolves were 2-0 winners at Newcastle. Newcastle returned the favour days later in the League Cup before Wolves beat Brentford 2-1, only to then be beaten by struggling Wigan. Wolves have alternated between earning points and then earning nothing for their last eight games.

Match Predictions and Betting Tips

Bet365 are best odds for a Wolves win at 2/1, whilst the draw can be backed at a price of 9/4 with Betfair. The best price you’ll find for a Norwich win is currently 6/4 with William Hill.

Wolves’ inconsistency has been extremely entertaining if nothing else. Fans of the club are probably mildly frustrated with the one step forward, one step back that is currently taking place, but it’s still a good start for a Wolves side who look considerably better than last season. They currently find themselves mid-table with 14 points.

Norwich are a potential title contender as we’ve mentioned. That does mean winning on your travels as well as at home but that’s been more of a struggle for them so far. Norwich are unbeaten at home but have dropped two on the road. Their current ratio of one win from each two away games is a very solid return if it’s to continue, though.

Whether Wolves win or lose, there should be goals. Norwich score for fun when they’re on fire and if Wolves’ defence are caught sleeping again it could be a dangerous mix. But the home side do have 14 goals from 19 games, so they’re not struggling. Back Over 2.5 goals as our free betting tip at odds of 1/1 with Bet365.

It’s such a toss up when it comes to picking a result in this game, let alone a score line. We know how capable – and equally incapable– Wolves are. Norwich to win 3-1 is at 20/1 with Stan James.

The Canaries have produced goals from all over the pitch this season. They’ve scored 21 in their last eight alone and a big part of that has been Jacob Murphy. The young midfield has five in eight and is 14/5 with Ladbrokes to score here.
