Analysis – Has won 4/7 career starts so far with the most recent achieved over this C&D when beating Berkshire Royal. Went up 8lb for that but was beaten at Doncaster subsequently when going off a short favourite but the long straight and soft ground may not have played to this colt’s strengths and a return to a tight track on better ground should help. The lower the draw the better here but in a small field it’s not much of an issue so stall 5 should be fine. It’s not the strongest looking class 2’s so this top-weight may well be too good for them.

Analysis – You can forgive his first run this season when stone last at Chelmsford as he tends to need the run first time out and a recent one-length defeat from a 1lb higher at Goodwood was much more like it over a furlong further. He won this race last year from a 2lb lower mark in identical conditions and Andrea Atzeni (rode him the last day) is a good booking. He sits 3lb below his highest wining mark, so looks primed to defend his crown.

Analysis – This ten-year old has placed 3/5 times when visiting this track with eh latest of this coming the last day when beaten just over three-lengths from this mark of 101. He has won six times from marks higher than this in the past, with his highest perch being 127 when landing a class 3 handicap over this trip at Wetherby. It’d been over four years since he ran in class 5 company when going close recently and this gelding clearly has the past form to be landing a contest like this so a big run is surely expected for connections.
