Todays Racing Tip – HEADWAY
Time & Track – 5.35 Ascot (20/06)
Best Odds – 11/1 @ Betfair
Stake – 1pt win
Analysis – Went down by the narrowest of margins in last year’s Coventry stakes over six-furlongs when staying on strongly at the finish before running another respectable race when third in another Group 2 at the end of last season at York. He reappeared this year with an eye-catching performance on the synthetics, stepped up to this seven-furlong trip for the first time, when coming from last to first in the blink of an eye to score in the end quite cosily with Lake Volta back in third. He just didn’t settle in the 2000 Guineas over a mile last month so the drop back to seven-furlongs (where he’s 1/1) along with the quick ground could see this colt go well with him very unexposed at the trip. Extremely wide-open race but deserves the upmost respect.

Todays Racing Tip – SHADES OF BLUE
Time & Track – 2.30 Ascot (20/06)
Best Odds – 5/1 @ Marathon Bet
Stake – 3pt win
Analysis – This filly was impressive on her racecourse debut over C&D last month when, after slow away, soon got a good position and after finally finding a gap inside the final furlong kicked clear with a blistering turn of foot. The horse in second that day has since won twice and the third, Come On Leicester (who re-opposes here) also won next time out. It’s a big plus that she’s got the course form and definitely looks to hold strong credentials in Day Two’s opener for the same jockey/trainer partnership who took last year’s renewal with Heartache.

Todays Racing Tip – VIVE LA DIFFERENCE
Time & Track – 4.35 Hamilton (20/06)
Best Odds – 7/2 @ Bet365
Stake – 2pt win
Analysis – This four-year old has been ultra-consistent since joining Tim Easterly’s yard and despite only winning the once he’s not been beaten more than three-lengths in any of the other seven outings. His victory came over C&D on his penultimate start on the good-to-firm ground and he almost doubled up from 4lb higher when just touched off by a neck at beverley when upped in grade. He’s been raised a further 2lb for that effort but this looks winnable for a horse clearly improving so he should go well for a trainer amongst the winners recently.
