Monday 11th January
Good morning, sole selection for today is as follows.
14:55 Wolverhampton- Rosecomb2 pts win 9/2 Bet365, William Hill, Coral, Ladbrokes, Paddy Power, Bet Victor or Betfred - Lost
Shaped especially well on her 3rd start when not unduly punished to come home 8th finding trouble in running. She travelled well enough for large parts of her opening 3 runs suggesting that she has ability and may be better suited by a synthetic surface. Her sire Rip Van Winkle has a significantly better record on A/W surfaces than turf 21-109 (19.3% S/R, 1.20 A/E) on the AW compared to 28-273 (10.3% S/R, 0.68 A/E) on turf backing up that she may well be better suited to these conditions, her half sisters sole win also came on the AW. Presumably not right on handicap debut when never travelling from an early stage in a deep class 4 nursery, she's subsequently been dropped 7lbs to a mark of 55 and takes a massive drop down in grade. Adam Kirby was jocked up at the 5 day stage but rides elsewhere but Jamie Spencer is undoubtedly a positive booking. The step up in trip on breeding should bring about an improved showing (dam 10f winner) as will the fitting of the hood. She's overpriced enough for a 2pt bet. Schoolboy Error who is half brother to Trip To Paris looks the main danger given that he has been ridden with handicaps in mind and steps up in trip.Quentin

Good morning, selections for today are as follows.
15:25 Chelmsford- Chorlton House - Won +2.25
1pt win 9/4 Bet365, William Hill, Ladbrokes, Coral, Paddy Power, Bet Victor or Betfred
16:35 Kempton- Australian Queen - Lost
2pts win 9/4 William Hill or Coral, 2/1 Bet365, 15/8 Betfred or Ladbrokes
Australian Queen- The selection was heavily backed first time out but on paddock inspection was carrying a fair bit of condition for one so strong in the market and would expect her to take a fair step forward as plenty of the yards runners do. David Elsworth 10-247 (4.7% S/R, 0.64 A/E) with his debutants compared to 32-194 (16.5% S/R, 1.22 A/E) with his runners having the 2nd start in maiden company, showing a large step forward percentage wise on winners and the fact that they are being underbet on their 2nd starts. The market maker is Shaan who was a lot fitter for debut when beating Australian Queen but she was well positioned in a race run at a muddling gallop therefore seen at a tactical advantage and is undoubtedly flattered somewhat by that result. Australian Queen was green out the gate and missed the kick by 5 lengths immediately on the backfoot, spared anything like a hard time but coming home to good effect once the penny finally dropped. Whilst Shaan is undoubtedly the right favourite the price differential between the fair shouldn't be so vast making Australian Queen overpriced enough for a 2pt bet.
Thursday 14th January
Good morning, selections for today are as follows.
13:20 Catterick- Quinto - Won + 5 points
2pts win 5/2 Bet365, William Hill, Coral, Bet Victor or Ladbrokes
14:30 Southwell- Step On It - Won + 7.5 points
5pts win 6/4 Bet365, Betfred, Coral, Ladbrokes, Skybet or Bet Victor
14:50 Catterick- Jac The Legend - Lost
1pt win 8/1 William Hill, Ladbrokes or Bet Victor, 15/2 General
15:05 Southwell- Bring On A Spinner - Won + 1.37 points (BOG)
1pt win 5/4 Paddy Power, 6/5 General
18:10 Chelmsford- Murdanova - Lost
1pt win 7/1 William Hill, Coral, Ladbrokes or Bet Victor
Quinto - Keen to oppose Bryden Boy (yard form+ trip) and Gullys Edge (questionable attitude of the bridle) at the prices, Quintos siblings Desilvano and Trackmate both thrive over a trip and the step up he gets today is a positive.
Step On It - Shaped like an extremely well handicapped horse last time out, held up in a race run at a sedate pace, finding trouble several times in running and ultimately doing extremely well in the circumstances to get within a length of the winner. He drops down into a weak maiden today and onto a surface for which I expect further improvement to come given his sire Footstepsinthesand has a tremendous record on the fibresand 22-113 (19.5% S/R, 1.22 A/E). The main market rival comes in the shape of Micheal Bells runner Independent Rose whilst I expect her to to progress from 1st -2nd start as many of the yards do the market seems to have focused on her remote 3rd place on debut and taking it that she handled the surface (sire 1-22 on fibresand), I think it's more a case of she handled it better than the horses with limited horses in behind her that day. Long term followers will know I'm generally keen to oppose fillies and mares against colts and geldings in all weather maidens especially at this time of year. I had the selection in as strong odds on when pricing the race.
Jac The Legend- A selection last time out when left with too much to do, but staying on strongly in the closing stages, step up in trip a positive as will be the likely strong gallop. He's 3lbs higher and up in grade but overpriced enough to warrant a 1pt bet.
Murdanova- Has been shaping for the last few starts as if a step up in trip will suit, held up in steadily run races doing well to get as close he hasnt had the races run to suit . He finally gets the step up in trip and appears to have been priced on the fact he is from a lesser yard but he still has progress to come at 7f +
